Are toddlers too heavy for the Ergo Baby Carrier?

I have an 18-month-old boy I would like to carry when he’s fussy so that I can get things done around the house. Does anyone have any experience carrying a baby of this age in an Ergo? He weighs around 26 pounds or so.

I carried my 2 year old on my back in my Ergo all around Disney World last summer. She weighed ….32 lbs? I don’t remember. I could even still get her on my back for short periods up to about 28 weeks pregnant.
I didn’t buy my Ergo until she was almost 2 years old, and I am so glad we have it. Between my daughter and the new baby, we will more than get our money’s worth out of it.
Yes it is called a ‘baby’ carrier. A toddler is not a baby.
Yes, I did it. If you are in good shape, it’s totally doable — Ergos distribute the weight beautifully.
You can use an Ergo carrier up to 40 pounds of toddler weight. The main problem is the strength of you back. Personally, I had to stop regular child wearing in the Ergo, when my daughter was about 20 pounds, because of back problems. But I do have a somewhat weak back. Give it a try and listen to your body and you should be fine.
