This is a tough one. My brother has four children and one of their cars is simliar to yours. He rarely drives the kids in his car. On the rare occasion he has to do this, he makes sure that the airbag switch is turned to OFF. Still use the carseat of course. I think you are smart to try to find a new car ASAP. I know times are hard and we can’t exactly get new cars at the drop of a hat. Just do your best to trade it in ASAP.
Well you should be fine as long as you can get the carseat as snug into the safety belt as you could in a car….also if you do not have an air bag then your safety issues decrease a lot…my bf has a 99 chevy s10….and we have had no problems with carseats…but we are selling it now….since we will have 2 kids very soon….and he wants a car…so he can drive the kids around also…
Yes, it is completely unsafe for any child under 12 years old. Most used car places will take your current vehicle as a trade-in. Also a car is typically more cost efficiant gas-wise so it will help you save money!
