If you are talking about the ones with the tether strap, get a graco. They come with a tether. I have an extra girl one if you are interested. I live in Illinois

the backless boosters don’t strap into the car
the boosters with the back do strap into the car.

Ones like this can be used with the 5 point safety harness straps OR with the car’s seat beat as a booster with a back.

If your car has a LATCH system, you should be able to strap almost any high-back booster seat directly into your car. Without the LATCH, you are probably stuck using just a regular booster seat that is only secured when your child is in it.

If you need more information about the LATCH system or need to know if your car has it, I would suggest your owner’s manual or Googling LATCH SYSTEM.

I did a lot of research on booster seats for our 4 and 5 year olds. We just bought the Britax Regent Booster and love it. They’re awesome seats! Everyone knows Britax standards exceed the government standards for car seats (which is why you pay a little more for these – but totally worth it). This booster is one of the few that has a 5 point harness that can be used even when your child is over 40 pounds. Check out this website. They offered free shipping and a better selection of styles and fabrics than what I saw in stores. Plus, the seats arrived 2 days after we placed the online order. Good luck.

We have the Britax Regent for our oldest two 7 and 5. Not only does it strap down to the car they are also in 5 point harnesess. Holds them up to 80 pounds.

I have to go with the others on the Britax Regent. We have one for my 6 year old and it is great. It has a 5 point harness that goes to 80lbs. MUCH safer then any booster type car seat. I am going to put a link in the sources of a great You Tube video showing the importance of a 5 point harness.
The Regent is a little pricey but SO worth it! I believe they now sell them at Baby’s R Us.
There are some other brands out there that harness above the regular 40lb weight limit of most seats.

Recaro makes an INCREDIBLY safe booster/car seat. I believe that is what you are wanting? I have never come across a booster seat that has a ‘latch’ system on it. If I were you, I’d go with a sturdy brand like Recaro or Britax?
