Britax Marathon, Decathlon or Evenflo Triumph Advance LX?
My son is growing out of his infant car seat, and my uncle is going to buy him a new one for Christmas. I am considering the ones listed above, and am having a hard time making a final decision. The Decathlon goes up to 65lbs, 15 more than the others. I have an Evenflo carseat in my mother’s car, its a cheap one, and I don’t like it much at all, but the Evenflo Triumph is less expensive than either of the Britax’s, and it’s different enough from the other one I have that it seems that it would work. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t want to use anything that will accommodate less than 50 lbs as my son is growing very quickly, and I would love for this to be the last carseat I have to get for him.

My son is in the 95% percentile for height, so that was our concern. We bought the Marathon and I LOVE it!!!
Another good one, which is mainly only sold on line is the Sunshine Kids Radian 65…that too goes up to 65 pounds…it was about $220 at Target..they had free shipping!!! MY husband has it in his car…both these seats took him 10minutes to install!!!
I would definitely go with theh Britax, a little pricey but very roomy and very user friendly.
The Evenflo Triumph Advance Deluxe is absolutely GREAt!!!!!!!
It cant get ANY EASIER to tighten and loosen the straps, its comfortable, the shoulder height is crazy easy!! (no slots).
I honestly dont have a single complaint about!!
I LOVE IT!
Definitely go with the Britax. Out of the 2 you listed I think the Decathalon would probably be best if the weight limit is higher.
My son has a Fisher Price Safe Voyage manufactured by Britax. It is a great car seat and seems much safer than others I have seen. It is modelled after the Britax Marathon.
THe Evenflo is rated just as well as the Britax plus it’s half the price! Chances are if you plan on having more children, you’ll have to buy a booster fro when baby #2 gets to be the size baby#1 is now.
I just bought the Britax Marathon and it goes up to 65lbs. I really like it and Britax is known for being the best in the convertible car seat class. Make sure you have enough room in the backseat though. I went to carseatdata.org to look into this. I also found it for $60 less than anywhere else on Albeebaby.com.
Good luck!
Have you taken him to the store and let him sit in them? See which one seems to fit him the best? Just a thought
All things being equal I would go with Britax.
well, make sure you actually try these seats in your car–no matter how big your car might be. they may not fit. also, think if you are going to have more children and may have more car seats in the car, which could also change what you should get. other than the seats mentioned about, check out sunshine kids radian 65 and radian 80. they go up to 65lbs and 80 lbs and have great ratings. they run about $200 and $250 respectively. another plus, apparently you can fit 3 across the back of many cars.
