I highly recommend it! We had a Graco Snugride first, which was rated the top infant seat for safety last year. I wish I would have gotten the Britax Marathon instead. The Britax seats are way better quality, from the fabric to the harness to the LATCH system, Britax beats all the competition.
Also, the top harness slots in the Britax seats are high enough that a 5 or 6 year old can still be in them. The 3-in-1 seats that some people like to recommend do not have high enough slots so your child will end up using the booster seat too soon or you will have to buy another car seat (the 3-in-1 seats made by Dorel go under several names including: Cosco, Eddie Bauer, Safety 1st, Alpha Omega). The other problem with the 3-in-1 seats is they will expire before your child is done using them. Car seats expire after 6 years, there are many provinces in Canada that require by LAW that children be in a booster seat up to age 9, regardless of their height and weight. So a 3-in-1 seat will expire and you will still need a booster seat for 3 years! Why not buy the Britax, use it up to 6 years old and then buy a booster seat to use for the next 3 or more years? You will more than likely SAVE money by getting the Britax seat, though you have to spend more money up front.
Honestly, keep your child in a car seat with a 5 point harness for as long as you can. I know the law in the US states a 30 lb child can be in a booster seat, but that is a minimum safety standard (in Canada it is 40 lbs). Most experts advise to keep children rear-facing as long as possible, which is up to 33 lbs in the Britax Marathon. Don’t be the parent who has their poor three year old in a booster seat!!! Britax is worth the extra money for your child’s safety and comfort!
I totally recommend the Britax line of seats.
Yes, they would be able to use the seat until after 3 yrs. My girls are 3 1/2 and are about 30-35lbs. You most likely wouldnt need to buy another seat while your kids are in a carseat.
I just received the Marathon (thanks, grandma, lol) and I LOVE it!
It’s not a carrier seat, that’s the only gripe I have about it, but at the same time, this seat is going to last my son for quite a while.
I highly recommend it.
I would not reccommend the car seat.
I think they are priced too highly and they enjoy making parents feel guilty for buying anything but their seats. Their marketing department really plays the guilt trip…
You don’t need to spend that much money. We have 2 Alpha Omega Elite car seats from Cosco and they are convertible up to 100 lbs… so our son will never need another car seat. It faces backwards, forwards, and turns into a booster seat.
I’m not saying that my seat is the very best out there… BUT, all car seats pass the same inspections and testing and are all approved… so don’t feel guilty buying something less expensive!
We purchased an Evenflo seat before the Brintax Marathon… The Evenflo brand was CHEAP & the straps were flimsy… My cousin recommended the Brintax. WE LOVE IT. Hubby & I ended up buying 2 of them so we wouldn’t have to switch them out in the vehicles. They are on the spendy side but very sturdy/heavy duty for that precious cargo! I highly recommend them.
YES, THIS IS A WONDERFUL CHOICE.
Well i think the Britax Boulevard actually scored a little higher but this is second i am going with the roundabout which is #3 but ranked #1 by consumer users. However this seat only goes up to 40 pounds but my little girl is small so i am not worried about her growing out of it until she is 4 and i can buy a booster. My sister’s 7 year old just hit 42 pounds and mine is smaller than she was at her age but if you have a child on the larger side i would say go with the marathon or the boulevard! If you want to see a lot of customer reviews just go on Babiesrus.com their site is reallly easy to use and they have a lot of customer ratings so you can see all the pros and cons of a lot of different seats!
I love my Britax seat. Believe me, your children will be telling you how uncool it is for them to still be in this seat when all their friends are using booster seats before they hit 65lbs, well past 3 yrs old. If you’re kids weigh more than 65lbs before 3 years of age, they are either giants or little butterballs!! To me the Britax Marathon seats are well worth the money and they are one of the few seats rated for airplane travel!
We have 2 Marathons and they are wonderful. My daughter is 3 years old and still rearfacing in both.
She will likely make it to 5 years (by then will be forward facing
) and hopefully will make it to 6 years.
If you can afford it, they are the way to go!
