Many convertible car seats are ideal for this. You can purchase them anywhere from $90- $300. And some of them are like 5-60 lbs, so can very easily face either way.
I bought the Evenflo Symphony car seat for my son when he was about 7 months old because he had gotten to be about 29 inches long and 23 pounds and couldn’t fit in his infant car seat. He’s 16 months old and is now using it front facing and he loves it. I love it because it saves me from having to buy another one for a good two years. Hope you find one that works for you!
we just bought the Graco MyRide 65 which can be installed forward or rear-facing. rear-facing your baby can be up to 40 lbs. and forward facing baby can be up to 65 lbs. i am ecstatic that we purchased this seat because not only is it super easy to install and looks amazingly comfortable for my daughter, it will be used until she no longer needs a carseat so it was totally worth the money!! i found it on target’s website but we bought it at wal-mart for $150.
I recommend convertible car seats. This are good for babies that are quite older but i think this is also safe for infants. I had a 4 month old son and he uses convertible car seat.
