Can restraining a child with epilepsy cause a seizure?
Full body restraint with legs wrapped around child’s legs. Adult arm around child’s body holding arms in place and other arm pinning head to adult chest. Happened in supervised visitation setting.
This happened at a court ordered supervised visit. The supervisor said that our daughter used the correct hold taught by parenting class for a child out of control. My grandson is three with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. He was hitting his 200 pound mother when she restrained him. The children came home upset. Me TOO! He NEVER hits at home.

Who did this to a child? A child should not be restrained like this. Think about it. Would it calm you down if someone restrained you like that? Nope. Heck, it would cause me a seizure, but I don’t know if medically it could. However, the behaviour could have been the precursor to the seizure.
well it could,, do to being so emotionally upset (mental )
epilepsy is mostly caused through the brain,,, so being emotional uncontrollable, it could make it happen!!!
but you shouldn’t be restraining anyone, let a child react and act out if they need to!!!! if their emotional why do we repress those feelings, they never learn to deal with them if we don’t let them have them!!!!!
with a seizure you should never hold someone down or restrain them just protect their head or other body parts from harms way
I hope that helps and wish you well!!!
