Car seat safety??
I have a 13 month old son who is the hight of the average 17 month old! I wanted to keep him rear facing for as long as possible but with him being so tall he really won’t fit that way any more…..any suggestions???
Caz…that is when you are ALLOWED to….you should keep tham that way for as long as possible!

Great job keeping your son RF!!!!
How doesn’t he fit?
A RF seat is outgrown when a child has less than one inch of plastic shell above their heads in an infant seat or a convertible seat. A RF is also outgrown when a child reaches the RF limit of 30-35lbs.
My DD is 3.5 years and RF in her Britax Marathons. She just throws her legs up on the backseat or sits criss cross.
Feet touching the backseat has no bearing on a child fitting in a seat or it being a safety issue. There are no documented cases of a child breaking his/her legs in an accident due to RF. Even if there were I would much rather deal with a broken leg than a broken neck.
Hi,
I am not sure where you are from but in Australia your baby is rearward facing til 6 months or 9kg than they can be moved safely to the forward facing position.
i thought that by the time your baby is about 20lbs and a year old your baby should be in a forward facing car seat anyway! most rear facing car seats only fit a child up to this weight!
the link below tells you all about the goverments laws on children and car seats! it might be of some help! x

Rear facing is the safest until they reach their max height weight. Check out your carseat for the height max. I know britax has higher legnth standards for rear facing so you might check their carseats out. This will be my daughters problem, she is 9 months old and only about 19-20 lbs but like 33 inches long! Shes going to be a tall girl but I will keep her rear facing til she is good and ready!
