Car Seats…..?

We need new car seats.What age or height do they need to be not to use a booster seat.I’m still kinda confused about that because it keeps changing.Also what is the best kind for a 4 foot tall 6 year old?
Oh and for a 3 year old?
we dont have a babies r us.the only place that sells car seats wouldn’t know,i’ve asked.

The best kind of car seat is one that fits your child…
There is alot of different things that do keep changing about requirements for car seats but they are usually along the same lines….
For the six year old, a high back booster would be best…You could go to the store or Your local health department, they do have programs that help parents with things such as this, they also have alot of UP todate information about the new regulations…When your son sits in any seat, carseat, booster, high or no back, his knees should beable to bend over the front, Like yours do when you sit in a comfortable chair..Check the seat with your child in it. does his head reach over the top. or close too the top? because if it is over the top of the back, it would not be safe for them..more of a danger…The high back booster gives a child more support as they sit up, and they usually have place to hook the seat belt so that it is over the shoulder and not over the childs neck, "this also teaches them the proper way to wear a seat belt…
For you 3 yo a good car seat maybe one that turns also in to a highback booster, because they are at the age where depending on their height, they are going to need a booster before long…The shoulder straps on the car seat SHOULD NOT, come from under/behind their shoulders, but from over top of their shoulders….This way incase of an accident the shoulder blade does not get broke, and the child has better support…Also check your childs height with a car seat also, some car seats are made with "Smaller" children in mind..
THey say that the magic number is 4 foot 9 inces before a child may sit in a regular seat without any child safty seats….Also about 30 pounds is when they suggest going to a booster, if the height is approprate…
Mystep son is 5 turning 6 in two weeks, we have a graco high back booster seat for him, and his sister is 3 and she also has a graco babyseat that turns in to a highback booster once you take the straps out…She isnt quite big enough for the booster stage, but her brother was immediatly. he used a carseat for a short period after turning four, he was ready for a booster shortly after that…He also has a low back booster, but if they happend to fall asleep, then they lean over and dotn have much support…Also the seatbelt of the car often leaves marks on his neck if he is wearing it properly??? acoding to the manual….
I fear that if the child has a no back booster that it may slip out from under them in an accident. but it all depends on who you talk to….on what they like…
It depends on the state you live in, check w/ your highway patrol and they can tell you the requirements for you state and you can also talk w/ your pediatrician (sp?) for suggestions.
why can’t you go to the store and ask someone in babies r us or something?
This act (1) with one exception for children being transported in student transportation vehicles, extends child restraint system use requirements from children under age four weighing less than 40 pounds to children under age seven or who weigh less than 60 pounds, regardless of age; (2) requires any child under age one or weighing less than 20 pounds to be transported in a rear-facing position in his child restraint system; and (3) requires children restrained in booster seats to be anchored by a seat belt that includes a shoulder belt. Children transported in student transportation vehicles remain under the law’s prior requirements.
children be restrained in booster seats only when the restraining seat belt includes a shoulder belt and meets other applicable statutory requirements on belt strength and latch release. Use of a lap belt only is prohibited.
