Do toddlers sleep better in a big bed than they do in a toddler bed?
My also 3 year old has been in his toddler bed for over a year but he wakes up every night. If he sleeps away from home and in a big bed he sleeps with no problem a few times he has slept in our bed and we fell asleep on the couch and he slept all night? Is the problem the toddler bed or just a toddler that doesnt want to stay in his own bed?

I have a 4 year old son who was exactly like this, and it does sound like he needs a larger sleeping space. My son started having problems sleeping in his toddler bed that was converted from the crib when he was about 18 months old. So we just went ahead and bought him a queen size bed and he loved it. Of course he looked tiny in this big old bed, but it’s the last bed we’ll have to buy for him so that’s a good savings for us and he adores his big boy bed. Plus when he leaves the nest, we have a queen size for company, and we can just a different headboard if needed.
Good luck!
I’m including a good site for kids beds. Hope this helps!
It really depends on the child. It sounds like your child is one who prefers having a bit more room when he sleeps. He is old enough you could move him up to a twin if you want.
We skipped the toddler bed altogether. He slept in our bed most of the time anyway, but he went from the crib to a full-size bed at age 2. He sleeps great in his own big boy bed! He is a space hog, so I think he never would have liked the toddler bed.
It depends on the child. My daughter hated sleeping in her crib and never did . We got her a big bed earlier than I did my son, who was 4..yes 4.(he slept so well and never woke up so…why mess with a good thing. he transitioned fine and is still the best sleeper.) She was 2.5 when we got her the bed, she still doesnt sleep all night and she is 4. From the time she was 6 months, when I couldnt take waking up every hour to settle her down we slept on the couch together. Then as she got bigger she had one couch and I the other, she would wake, but not cry and come sleep with me. Now, she goes to sleep in her own bed but most nights she comes to our bed. So, she likes to sleep with someone, i dont like it, but I need to sleep. Honestly I did try everything other than locking her in her room and letting her scream her head off which, wasn’t an option for me.
Try the big bed, you wil have to get one eventually. Make it fun, let her pick out new sheets and blanket and a new stuffed toy to sleep with. it could be the issue.
We skipped the toddler bed because our son was cramped in his crib and really likes to move around in his sleep, so we went straight to a twin bed. He is 26months and sleeps great in his twin bed.
But it does depend on the child, If it were me I’d go ahead and move him to a twin bed. The twin bed is a good investment anyway since he will be able to use for a long time, so why not try it.
Also make sure he is getting plenty of exercise and mind stimulation throughout his day & a bedtime routine so he can wind down for a good nights sleep.
Good Luck
i think they dont want to be in their bed because i put my two year old daughter in her toddler bed and i wake up the next morning and she’s in mine w/ me but i really dont know why they do this
