If it is an absolute emergency and you have no other choice but to go. Make sure to bring all of your hospital documentation, wrist bands, even pictures. Put yourself in the custom’s officer shoes when returning, why would he/she not be suspicious of a 1-month old traveling? shouldn’t an infant that young be at home? And also how will he know the baby is not a foreigner that you are trying to smuggle in to the country.
Oh and as fr as entering Mexico, you are OK!
Best of luck!and congrats on the new-born!
The baby absolutely MUST have a passport to go to Mexico. There is no way you can get one before Friday..you will have to delay the trip. It often takes 6 to 8 weeks to get the S.S. card and birth certificate. Call the hospital where he was born and ask how you can check on them…what office in your city takes care of the birth certificate. Even if you had the documents and applied tomorrow through a fast passport service, I don’t think you could get a passport that fast. See site below for the fast passport services…you may want to use one when you get the documents. You simply cannot take an infant into Mexico without a passport…you may not get him back out. You also need a letter of permission from the other parent if he is not going with you.
Of course you need a document that demonstrate that the child is yours even more if it is an emergency. Have you tried to get in touch with the mexican consulate to ask some info about this topic? I guess this could be suitable. Good luck!!!
