First time mom needs help with baby car seat, please give your advice?
Hello all mommies, I’m expecting my first baby this december and I’m super excited. I started looking around for baby car seats and I found this one I love. However, more than me liking it, I want to make sure it’s safe for my baby. Everything about it seems so convenient. It’s lightweight (i’m only 5’3, 110lbs before getting pregnant), and compact although it is a convertible. I noticed it does not need a base, which is one of the major things i’m questioning. I’ve tried researching it online, but I’m not finding much on it. it is cute! convertable car seats are ment to stay in the car, the base is so you can easily remove the infant seat. me personally i would get an infant seat, because it would be difficult in my small car to take the baby out of the seat in the car. also those infant carriers are really nice, because you do not have to bundle baby in a coat, you can put a blanket over the seat.
Buy it and then take it to your local fire dept to get it installed correctly. THey’ll tell you if it needs a base or not, it looks to be one of those stationary ones thatyou just leave in the car. If the fire dept says that you do need a base and can’t find one you can always return it.

We got a travel system which was a baby seat (rear facing) which clicked into a pushchair (so that it became a pram) It was secured very easily with the front or rear seatbelts (switch off airbags in front) and this way if she fell asleep in the car, we simply lifted the seat out and clicked it into the travel system without waking her.

We upgraded to a seat that stayed in the car when she outgrew it, but you can still use the pushchair side of it.
You will be so glad that you don’t have to wake your child getting it out of the car (sometimes we would have to take ours for a drive to help her sleep)
That’s an interesting looking seat! It’s very cute though. You can take it to your local fire, police, or health department where they can show you how to install it. Please know that it has to be properly installed before taking baby home. Sometimes, a professional at the hospital will take a look for you before you take baby home. But its best to have that handled before going into labor…since you will have a few extra things to worry about! So call the nearest station to make sure and you should be fine. By the way, congrats!
It had very good reviews. The only thing I can suggest to you is to get one with a handle to carry. When you have to go into dr apts or in and out of places when you don’t want to wake the infant you are going to wish you had one with a handle carrier. Good luck with everything!!

That car seat is always in the vehicle it can NOT be taken out and put back in like most baby car seats or carried around. Thats in a convertible car seat that is generally used after a baby car seat (or when the baby reaches 22lbs).
My sister in law (5’2 115lbs) used a regular car seat when Audrina was just a newborn until about 10 months then bought a convertible when she started walking. Your going to want to buy an ifant car seat for the newborn.

I have a graco infant bucket seat, and we’re almost ready to make the switch to a stay in car carseat. The research involved in choosing a carseat is unbelievably difficult to navigate, and so many reviews are biased that its hard to know what to trust.

This is a convertible carseat not an infant carseat. You can use the convertible with a newborn, but I found having the infant seat a lifesaver.
The seat you selected will not move in and out of the car so everytime you go somewhere you will have to remove your child from the seat. With an infant seat you can remove the whole seat without disturbing the child and the seat just clicks into the base. So no need to disturb a sleeping baby or hold your newborn through grocery shopping or during dinner out.
It will cost more to buy an infant seat first as you will eventually have to upgrade to a convertible seat. However, I chose the Chicco keyfit 30 seat as this one is safety rated to 30 pounds – most infant seats are only rated to 18-22 pounds. Because I bought the larger seat I am hoping to get more use from the infant seat before buying another pricey seat.
I think mostly the newer carseats come with a base. The base is just to make it easier so all you have to do is snap the carseat in the base when you put your baby in the car. Congrats by the way, I just had a boy myself 3 mo ago. When you get the car seat it should come with a number so you can register it, that way if the carseat is ever recalled you will be notified. If the carseat is for sale it should be safe. God bless

This is the car seat we got. We purchased it for three reasons. I read that it is one of the safest car sets, it hold an infant up to 30 lbs (which is the most that I had seen), and it attaches to a stroller. It does have a base that it sits on in the car as well. I am absolutely happy with our purchase. I love the seat and the convienence of popping in on the stroller and going is awesome. I would not use anything else.
The fact that it doesn’t have a base shouldn’t concern you because it is not a seat that you take in and out of the car all the time, you get the baby in and out of the seat. Convertable means that you can put your baby in it from birth because you can have it rear facing, and then once the baby is big enough you can turn it around and have it forward facing. Some people will advise you against buying this type of seat and get one you can take out of the car but this is all we had for my son and it wasn’t a problem, gets them used to sleeping through lots lol.
The only thing i see wrong with this seat (in my opinion) is that its pink, and for me, i wouldn’t want to turn around and have to buy a new seat if i had a boy next time around (or in my case, i didn’t know the gender of my bub), and well their daddy wouldn’t want his little boys in a pink seat lol.
Hi! that’s a great seat. It is what we call a convertible carseat so it rear faces and then turns forward facing. This seat really is meant to be installed and to stay in the car. It’s not an infant carseat that has a handle and removes easily. While the seat is light weight, and combi is actually designing a stroller base for this seat, its really not an easy install every time – you’re more likely to use it incorrectly that way.
This is a safe seat, and it rear faces to 33lbs, so your child will most likely get to 2 or longer rear facing – but if you’re looking for the standard "infant travel system", this isn’t it. If you think you’ll carry your baby in a sling a lot and not use an infant bucket like a travel system, then it’s a perfectly fine option!
