Has anyone safely installed a child seat in their classic car?

I have a late 60’s ford, and I dont have the financial means to get a newer car. Everywhere I have called regarding safety seats turns out to be some jerk trying to sell me a late model used car. This even happened when I called SEATCHECK. I believe it is possible to retrofit a latch system in my vehicle. Has anyone else done this? I want my baby to be as safe as possible. Please dont respond telling me to get another car, because if I could, I would in a heartbeat.

Just let your child ride unrestrained. tens of thousands of kids rode without seatbelts in that car and survived. As Light Bulb said, just use your arm, or hold your child in your arms or lap like mothers did in the 60’s. Worked back then.
Yes. I put late model shoulder belts in the front and back of my ‘70 Maverick.
Just put it in the trunk. Honestly, I have no idea. But you Moms have a great arm. Thats what my mother used.
As long as your child has a car seat with a harness system (you have to buckle the child into the seat with attached straps) you can secure the seat in the car with the lap belt only. Once the child is in a harness-less booster however, they should not use just a lap belt. If there is a crash, the lap belt won’t secure the child correctly and can cause major internal injuries. While I’m not sure about the having the latch system installed in your car, you should be able to have a modern seat belt in your vehicle.
