How to properly attach infant carrier to travel system stroller?
This may sound like a silly question, but I JUST put together my new Baby Trend travel system (stroller, infant seat/carrier) and everything seems to work smoothly and go nicely together, but I am missing something about putting the carrier in the stroller. It fits nicely but doesn’t seem to latch in or anything. With all the straps, safety features, and warning labels on the system, it doesn’t seem this one could be missing– when you put the carrier in the stroller, the back end rests on the child’s tray– is there something that locks it in there? The carrier tips pretty easily, and I can absolutely see a bad tumble situation there. Thanks in advance!

yes–I’m not sure about the new Baby Trend systems, but the old ones didn’t rest against it, it locks onto the tray and releases just like the car seat base in your car. I’d call the manufacturer to make sure you have everything installed properly. Some of the trays have a different bar attachment for use as a travel system. Are there any parts sitting in the box? Call the 800 number–they can be very helpful.
Every brand is probably different. I had a hard time figuring mine out, finally did, but mine is a Graco, so my experience probably wouldn’t help. The best thing I can think of for you to do is that if you can’t see it in the instructions, call the 1-800 number for the manufacturer, the people who answer the phones are trained to help you with issues like this, and are usually very nice about it. Good luck!
Mine latches onto the bottom of the tray with the same latch that hooks onto the base in the van. It reclines a lot more than what it does in the van but it releases the same way. Have you tried to put the seat on the stroller reclined more? I don’t have the same brand but of all the ones I looked at they all seem similar. If that doesn’t work, call the support line for your stroller.
My safety first travel system works this way —
The rear base of the infant carrier sits on the tray in the stroller and the front base of the infant carrier snaps into a bar just like with the base for the car. The bar on the stroller is actually removable and normally snaps into a spot right under the handle until it needs to be installed for the infant carrier to be used. Once the baby is ready to sit in the actual stroller, the conversion bar snaps back in under the stroller handle.
I agree that you should contact Baby Trend customer service to be certain about the installation.
