I am looking for an air bag of some kind to put in a boat, to hold the cover up and keep the top from sagging?

The cover sags in the middle and lets more and more water collect in pockets. If I could put an air bag in the boat it would hold the canvas up and shed the water off. Any suggestions?????

You could also use the blowup float that is used for above ground pools when putting the cover on. It goes right in the middle of the pools and ties to the sides, keeping the water from collecting in the middle. see below link

Normally, poles with a snap end are used. Would an inflatable exercise ball (the kind you lay on and roll) work for you? It may shrink as it gets colder out and even leak air though.
You need "boat cover support poles". They have them at West Marine. Check out the link below.

a ladder should work
You have been given some options here, but one not mentioned is the "Slat Type" That bows across the beam and fits into brackets on either end. You can get them at West Marine, Overton’s, etc. When installed they give a kind of "covered wagon" type look when viewed down the opening.
You have lots of good answers. But if you really want to stick with your idea, how about a tow-able sport tube? Put it on its side and inflate as needed to the right height. I have several and they are about the right size for a typical 16-17 foot boat.
