I have Graco and love it, except for one thing…. The infant seat was stored in my attic for about 2 years and when I went to get it out, I found that the handle had melted. I guess it was the Texas heat but I was very disappointed. They don’t have replacement parts for the handle so I had to buy an entire new infant seat. Of course, they no longer make the same pattern so it doesn’t match my stroller, pack n play, and swing. Don’t store it in the heat if you get a Graco!!!
BEST… Britax, but Graco has some great ones that are HALF the cost. I look at safety features as well as COMFORT. We go on 4 to 5 hour car trips every couple months and i want them to be comfy too.
the safeset car seat is any britax models.

I like the Graco line of Infant car seats and I am going to buy them for my twins. They only last until your child gets to about 20 pounds, then you have to switch to a different car seat.
I like my Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Sip 30/30, it will last until 30 pounds/ 30 inches, which should make it go past a year.
After that infant car seat i plan on getting the Radian 85.
Britax Marathon, is just too freakishly huge for me.
It is very overwhelming, all sorts of different seats and price ranges. You can get either an infant seat, like the ones that go with travel systems or you can get a convertible car seat that lasts much longer. Most carseats go to 20 pounds, but the graco safeseat goes to 30. We personally got a Graco travel system, that way the carseat will latch into it while the baby is small. Its all on your personal preference really.
Once you decide what type of seat you want, you can start looking into the different brands and deciding how much you want to spend. A great way to do this is to go to consumerreports.org, I provided the link at the bottom. If you find one that you like, you can read reviews from other parents at stores that sell it, such as babies r us. Good Luck
