You can do it whenever you want. The car seat is for your convenience. If it’s no longer convenient, stop using it.
I wouldn’t think so… I do this from time to time with my 4 1/2 month old.
No you can do that at any age you want to.
Nope as long as you get a convertaible car seat. The kind that still can face backwards and then later when she is 1 yr and 20lbs you can turn the seat to face front.
Thats what I would do. Just take her out of the carseat and carry her or put her in a stroller. I switched my daughter to a toddler carseat at 10 months.
Not at all! If you can carry her safer without the car seat go for it! Make sure though, if she is getting heavy, that her weight is still within the car seat limitations. My daughter had to move up to a bigger car seat at 8 months! As long as they are within the car seat guidelines do what is right for you!
as long as you can manage without it, do whatever works best for you.
i wouldnt switch car seats yet though, because if she falls asleep in the car you can carry her asleep into the grocery store or whatever.
Heck no! Do whatever is easiest for you! I never carried my daughter in her car seat unless she was asleep. I even carried her in my arms through the store with me.
Little-bo-peep– Why would it matter if she had a convertable carseat or not? What is there a law that says you must carry you baby to the car in their carseat until they are big enough to be in a convertable one? Didn’t think so.
No
its fine, carry her if she can hold her head up or sit on her own u dont need to carry her in her seat.
I have never had an infant seat. I have always had a convertible style that I would just pull baby out of. So there is no age that you have to wait until you take them out of the seat instead of carrying it.
If you are looking for a new seat I would sugeest the Britax Marathon, rear facing until 33lbs much longer than the minimum year, and front facing until 65lbs.
I personally have the Evenflo Triumph Advance, 35lbs rfing, and 50lbs ffing. Both seats have awesome safety ratings and are easy to use seats. I prefer the ease of the Advance though.
As long as you use the carseat it doesn’t matter.
As long as she can sit up in a cart go for it! My son was out of his at 6 months. Boy do I miss that thing… or should I say I miss when he weighed enough to carry him without my arm going numb and when he was strapped down not grabbing for everything he could get his hands on!
No, you can do that at any age. Most people leave their infants in the carseats because they feel that the baby is "too little" to be carrying around, the baby can’t sit yet, they want to have free hands, etc. But, if your little one can sit, at least supported, you can put her directly into the cart, or you could just carry her.
Both of my boys rarely stayed in their carseats in stores. They only did when they were less than a couple months old, it was nearing nap-time, or we planned on being in the store for some time.
Absolutely not! I would take her out of that seat whenever you felt like it! Those things are HEAVY with the dead weight in them.
There is no risk whatsoever by taking her out of the seat. In fact, she’ll probably enjoy being held by you more than laying in the infant seat.
That’s why there is infant seats on shopping carts – not everyone can lug those seats around and not everyone uses the portable ones.
I usually stop carrying that seat after 2-3 months – They’re too bulky!
You can do that at whatever age you want. I was having a hard time carrying a baby 4 months old so I starting carrying her without the seat. The seats are heavy and awkward
Nope, go ahead. I never took the carseat with me. It stayed in the car and I carried my daughter whereever i needed to go from the time she was born.
no, just leavethe car seat in the car now and carry your child, you will feel the difference and less strain on your back also your baby will be more comfy straightened for a bit rather than sitting down all of the time
Take her out of it! She will enjoy the view of looking at new things! I started taking my son out at 6 months.
She never needs to be carried in her infant seat–they are made for convenience only. Clearly, it’s not convenient anymore, so it’s ok to leave it in the car or to buy a convertible seat like the Marathon so she’s in it longer and more comfy in it.
Do what ever is easiest for you. I had to move my son out of his infant carrier and move him into a rearfacing convertable seat when he was 3 months old because he was so tall. The carrier type seats are only supposed to be for kids under 26 inches and he was 27 inces by the time he was 3 months old.
One thing I found very helpful for my son before he was able to sit up on his own was the Floppy Seat. It is a shopping cart/high chair cover that folds into istelf. It gives a little more padding in the shopping cart or restaurant high chair and helped my son be able to sit up in it before he was able to fully sit up on his own.
Nope – you never *have* to carry a baby in an infant car seat. In fact – an infant carrier seat is NOT a required stage in car seats, and babies can go into a rear facing convertible car seat from birth. I hate infant carriers. Just today we were at the park for over an hour, and one poor infant spent the entire time in an infant carrier. That’s awful! How much better off would that baby be if someone had taker her out and held her, talked to her, played with her, showed her things, just simply interacted with her? Babies should not be spending the amount of time in those seats that they do. If you’re going shopping – you don’t need to take the carrier in, but avoid putting her into the shopping cart seat, it is ripe with germs, and can be dangerous to put a child (even a carrier) in that seat. It has been discovered how unstable the additional top weight of a child or carrier makes a shopping cart. Instead, carry her in a sling/wrap. It will keep her happy, let you interact with her whiel you shop, and still keep your hands free to get done what you need to get done!
i took my twin girls out and left their car seat when they were just infants unless it was very cold or raining
No not at all! As soon as all my nieces and nephews started to sit really well around 5 months or so they stopped taking their car seats in…
