Is an infant carrier that is strapped to you safe to use on planes?
We are planning on flying about a 3 hr flight. Our baby will be 4 months old at the time. I heard that letting your baby sitting in your lap can be dangerous but we don’t want to buy an extra seat. If she was strapped to me would that be safer.

Strapping your baby in a sling or carrier attached to you will not make your baby safer in the event of a crash, but it may allow her to sleep more comfortably during the trip – if that is what she already used to. Otherwise, you can buy your child a seat and use a carseat approved for use on an airplane (read the instruction manual that came with your seat to determine if it has been approved for airplane use). If you don’t want to purchase a separate seat or use a carseat, then by all means, bring your carrier, but as a previous answer said, you may be asked to take the child out during take off and landing.
If you use a sling carrier, please make sure that you have reviewed the latest safety warnings and recalls, as there have been some recent reports of injuries associated with these products.
I travel a lot and I’ve NEVER seen anyone strap a baby to them self. I always see them sit the baby on their lap and it is perfectly safe.
She will be safe–if not safer–in your lap. The airline will give you a child’s belt that snaps into yours. This will keep her secure if there is any turbulence.
Funny enough, some airlines will make you take it off for take-off, landing and when there’s turbulence. If you want to use it, that’s fine. Otherwise the old-fashioned baby-on-lap is standard.
Check with your airline and find out what their restrictions/allowances are before bringing it on.
yes
Well I would use a car seat to be safe.
