I use the tether/latch and a seat belt. You don’t have to use a seat belt if you use the tether/latch but I fell you can never be to safe when it comes to your kids.
latch system is best and safest and do not need the belt. The middle of the seat is also the safest place to be in a crash. As long as the seat belt is strong and works properly it should be fine.
If you have purchased your Car Seat, call your local Fire Dept or Police Dept and ask if there is anyone there that is Car Seat Certified. They’ll show you how to properly install your car seat in the safest and correct positions.
I don’t like the latch system in my car because the center seat belt locks and the car seat will not move at all is a lot more stable than the latch system. If I use the latches in my car his seat is very wobbly.
The middle is the safest place for the carseat. If you choose to do that and there isnt the latch system and just use a seatbelt you need a C clip so the seatbelt doesnt slip…become loose. They sell them at Babys’ R Us.
If you use the latch system you dont need to use the seatbelt.
Contact your police departemet. Here in NY every police station has atleast one officer that is certified in installing carseats. There are also days where they check your carseat to make sure they are installed correctly. I have read that 85% of carseats arent used correctly. Call the police department and have them give you the advice, they will install it correctly and tell you how your child needs to be secured in, how tight the straps should be and where the plastic thingy by their chest should sit.
