My aunt puts her 2 week old baby forward facing in her car.?
Every time I see her I tell her that it is not safe but i’m not exactly sure why it’s not safe, I have two kids but I just always faced them back until they were 1 I never questioned it. But I don’t know what to tell her to make her do it, it makes me angry that just because it is more convenient for her to put her in and take her out that way she risks the child’s safety. Anyone know what can happen when they are facing forward? any suggestions on what to tell her to make her turn her around. thanks!
No I am not joking, all of these things are what I thought about her neck not being strong enough for a crash and I told her this and she still does it… because" it’s easier" she says. Thanks for answering I will use some of your words to describe it and maybe she will get the picture.

Their spine and neck simply cannot cope with the impact if there is even the slightest knock - one simple bump could kill the baby.
It is not only extremely irresponsible, it is illegal and frankly, I hope she gets caught for being so damned stupid.
If you hit the brakes you could snap your child neck if they are facing forward and have weak neck muscles.
HER HEAD CAN FLOP FORWARD AND CUT OFF HER AIR SUPPLY! Do NOT let her do that ever again! Unless she wants to find her baby dead!
1. It’s illegal for children under 12 months and 20lbs to be forward facing.
2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKIeExpDLDA and http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/stayrearfacing.aspx
In most states its not legal to do that. It says right on the car seat that my son has to be 22 lbs AND 1 year old, not either or….
yeah - if she has a crash with her baby facing forward - the baby will be flung out of the windscreen, or if the airbags are on in her car with the infant carrier in like that, and she has a crash, the baby will suffocate.
if she has the carseat in the front seat with her the airbags should be turned off also…
Call the police on her, they will come and ticket her and explain to her its illegal and dangerous.
maybe after the police scare her she will do the right thing.
Because they don’t have the neck strength to hold their head up properly yet for one, and for two, if she gets into a crash, say goodbye to your nephew, because he will most likely be internally decapitated.
I hope you are joking and no one is that uneducated regarding child safety these days. It is illegal, and at that age, if she even stops quickly, the child might get whiplash because of the undeveloped muscles. Rear facing positioning, permits the seat, rather than the infant, to bear the brunt of the impact during an accident. The current suggestion is to keep your child rear facing to 35lbs or more, if possible.
