Need a taxi service from LAX airport that provides infant car seats.?

I’m going to wind up at LAX airport with an eight month-old infant, a ton of luggage, and no car seat. We don’t know anyone who can meet us there; what are our transportation options?

Please consider finding a way to take your infant seat with you on the flight. The condition of rental agency child safety seats can range from new to horrific. Think about the care you take to keep your child safe in the car and then consider that many people do not take that same care and may have treated the seat poorly or misused it. Also the rental company may not be aware of recalls or expiration dates for their seats.
If you must rent a seat at a car rental agency, call ahead and speak to a manager. Ask the manager about the condition, age and brand/model of the seat(s) they have available. Ask what they do with seats that have been (even minor) accidents (seats should be destroyed). Ask if the manual is with the seat so you can properly install and use the seat. Ask if labels and safety information is still attached to the seat. Ask if you can reserve a specific seat for the dates you will be renting. Some rental agents will not be quick to help but ask to speak to someone else or call back at another time until you find someone who will take you seriously and help you.
It depends how far you’re going. If it’s more than a short distance, I’d recommend booking a limo. Lots of room and the flat rate would cost you about the same as a shuttle, which charges per person, and probably less than a taxi, which charges by distance and time.

I’ve never known of a taxi service that provides infant car seats. However, I’ve known of rental car companies that do. They normally rent infant car seats to those who rent their cars but you can ask (Hertz, Avis etc…) if you could rent a car seat without renting a car.

Child safety seats are available for infants and toddlers at most U.S. Avis locations. $9.00 per day, $45.00 per week, with a maximum charge per rental of $60.00 for the use of an Avis child safety seat. Seats must be returned to the renting location or an additional $15 fee will apply to the rental. Failure to return the seat in the same condition as received (minus normal wear and tear) may result in a $50 additional charge."
I’m sure Hertz will have some thing similar.
Bring your own seat! Even if you didn’t purchase a seat for your little one, the airline might let you use it, if there is room on the plane.
If there isn’t room on the plane, you can gate check the seat, and it’ll be waiting on the other end for you.
The best solution is to take your child’s car seat with you.
It’s extremely important to use the seat on the plane for not only your child’s safety, but for the safety of other passengers.
In case of turbulence (very common) you will not be able to hold your baby, and the odds of your baby being injured and/or injuring other people (because Baby then becomes a potentially deadly projectile) are very high.
There have been many deaths and injuries to children who would otherwise have been fine because they were not restrained in their safety seats.
