I JUST purchashed a snugli at walmart (30.00) it’s like a baby bjorn type, i bought it because i too just wanted something that i could use for quick outtings, and didnt want to pay 100$ or more. It’s pretty good too my daughter weighs 13lbs and sits in it quite comfortably, of course its adjustable too.
I have a "Snugli", it’s the best baby thing I own. He can face forward or backward on my tummy, and when he’s older, I can wear him as a back pack.

Copy and past link to go to the one I have. But as long as it’s breathable, and faces those different ways, it’s good. It’s simple and quick to adjust and slip baby into.
I have an Ergo that I like, its a little pricey though. How about a ring sling? Baby would be on your hip. Have you tried putting the wrap on before you leave the house? Then you don’t have to mess with the extra fabric in the parking lot.
I had a Baby Bjorn which worked great but is expensive. You could look on Craigslist.org for a used one. I had a friend who had the Snugli and loved it so that is a good cheaper option, you could even look for one of those on Craigslist for cheaper.
