How old was your baby when he/she began to sit in the shopping cart seat? I just got my daughter a new car seat that stays in the car b/c she’s too big for her infant car seat. She’s only 4 months old (and weighs almost 19 pounds) so she can’t sit unassisted yet. I don’t mind doing the baby carrier thing, but in a few weeks she’s going to be way too big for that. She sits fairly straight up but not for too long.

I’m in the process of researching carseats for my chubby (21 pounds, 27 inches) 4 month old. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to the Britax Diplomat or Boulevard, haven’t completely ruled out the Decathalon because of the adjustable crotch strap. Like the Diplomat because it seems to be a shrunk down version of the boulevard - great for my Nissan Altima as I hear that the Boulevard is quite bulky. However, the Diplomat only goes up to 40 pounds whereas the Boulevard goes up to 65 pounds. Want my big baby to stay in this seat until he’s ready for a booster whenever that is. Anyone have these carseats and big babies? Thanks.
No he’s only 4 months old and 21 pounds -breastfed only as well. Both my husband and I are tall and thin but were very big babies ourselves. I guess it’s just genetics. Doc says he’s healthy.

We were rear ended yesterday with our two children in the car, which basically totalled our car.
Our 3 yr old is in a carseat still, not a booster. We’re getting her a new one that converts into a booster down the road.
My concern is our infant, who is 4 months old. She is 12.5 lbs and 25 inches long. Her Graco carseat goes up 26in.

Should we just get her a rearfacing carseat that eventually can be turned around or should I buy another carrier? Any ideas on what is a good carseat? (I want a Britax but I don’t know if the insurance company will think that is reasonable!)
Thankfully, no one was hurt, not even the other driver!!

We are planning on flying about a 3 hr flight. Our baby will be 4 months old at the time. I heard that letting your baby sitting in your lap can be dangerous but we don’t want to buy an extra seat. If she was strapped to me would that be safer.

My son stopped using the car seat at 4 months old (the straps were too tight on the shoulders). His weight was 18 pounds and 27 inches long but most infant car seats claim the maximum weight is 20 or 22 pounds.
Just wondering how it was for other babies.

I have a 2 years 4 months old toddler, I’d like to know how did your reacted? I’m 34 weeks pregnant and he seems very excited when he sees a baby, he grabbed a pink bottle for his new sister at the Walgreen’s store, and he likes to rub my belly and kiss it.. How about yours?

I had been in a huge accident and had the entire front end suspension redone; A month after I got the car back (4 months ago- yes I have waited but didnt know what it was) the AIR BAG light went on randomly. What could this mean and how expensive is this?

my son is 4 months and he’s a big boy. my car seat holds up to 22 lbs and i think really soon he will be 22 lbs. I want to get a good travel system for him.

I’m focused on 0 - 4 months because she will be in the stroller after that point. Also, can you see the sidewalk/curb while carrying baby in the front? I ask because I will be using it in Feb/Mar of next year and there may be ice on the sidewalk. My biggest fear is slipping while wearing one of these. TIA!

I changed her out of the carrier carseat around 4 months because i hated that thing, and now im thinking i should just buy a convertable for my next born straight out. think it would be too big? even WITH the newborn inserts?

It only goes to 65 lbs though unlike my daughters which goes up to 100 lbs!
Edit: I still have my daughters carrier carseat (within 5 year man.) if my thought backfires on me lol and its babyblue so its gender neutral

My Girlfriend Is 16 years old and I am 17 years old and We have a 3 year old and a baby that is 4 months old. We found out we are going to have twins. Back when we were 13 years old we did stupid stuff. We live with my parents my 6 younger sisters. We have taken parenting classes. I work a full time job and a part time job. I just finish high school in December. I took a test and passed it. It let me graduate earlier. I started taking online classes. She is in school but right now she has tutors coming to our house. So she can stay home.
My parents are supportive they love me my girl friend and there grandchildren. To be honest being a father has made me a better person. I am taking care of my kids and girlfriend. I have insurance for my kids and my girlfriend and I feed them.
I am nervous and I am happy about having twins. I love being a dad. I know I can afford another it. I don’t waste money.
My girlfriend loves being a mom I love being a dad. She is a good mom. My GF is excited about having twins. I am excited do. Our kids are healthy. We put our kids needs first. I am taking care of my kids they are happy and healthy. We love being parents. Yes we are young.

HI guys–

I ended up with two car seats as gifts– the same brand! ha. The thing is, they got GREAT safety ratings and its defintely the brand I want. The thing is, only one of our 2 cars are currently "baby safe"– I drive a Ford Ranger and even though you can turn the airbag off, I dont think I’ll be putting baby in my truck at all.

We’ll be buying a second baby-safe car in mid or late summer. Baby is due this month, so she’ll already be 4+ months old then. The seat is rated for up to 30 lbs.

Should we keep both and plan to use the second one in 4 months or should I return it and get a larger seat when we get the second car? I dont know how hold a 30lb kid is…..

We are in the adoption process, waiting for a match with a birth mother. We could literally get a call today that says "a baby was just born, come now" or it could be that the mother is 4 months pregnant and we have some warning. Needless to say it is hard to plan anything. A relative has offered to send us to Costa Rica for a week. We are hesitant because we may have to cancel the trip at the last minute.
Would travel insurance cover this?
