She have some 6 years old, 7years old, and a 8 years old childrens. They are very fat and they are 60-70lbs. I was wondering if they have to be on a car seat when they are riding in a car????????

My son is 6 years old and is about 55 lbs. He keeps bugging me to let him out of his booster seat. I am sick of listening to him complain about it, but I don’t want to get a ticket or have to pay some kind of fine. Know any good websites where I could find laws or guidelines on this subject?
my son is 9 months old and is outgrowing his infant car seat. Should I invest in a 3 in 1 or should I just get a toddler car seat and then a booster seat later on?? Im planning on having more children, hopefully they will be 2- 2 1/2 years apart. do the 3 in 1 seats expire after 6 years like the infant seats do?
I know car seats expire within 6 years. I have a Peg Perego car seat that will be expired in about 1 year. I am wondering if I should give it to someone after I am done with it. In have noticed many parents riding in car holding there babies since they can not afford to buy a car seat. I would rather see the babies in a car seat expired or not than in nothing.
What do you think.
I can understand that you should not use a car seat but, a lot of parents can not afford them. They do not have programs in my state that offer free car seats either.
I think it would be more dangerous to be without a car seat.
Just because someone is riding in a car does not mean they own the car. I never seen a person hold there child while driving. They are often in the back or passenger seat. Also families can have cars or the person could have bought the car before they became pregnant and now just can not afford it.
I am just going to post it free on craig’s list and let them know it expires most likely when I post it it will still be good since it won’t be expire till 2011 and I only plan to use it for 9 months.
I am a first-time mom (due Sept 10, 2010) but I have been a full-time nanny for 6 years, so I have an idea of what I want/do not want in a stroller/car seat. Ideally, I would like a travel system so that I can place the car seat in the stroller for convenience when my baby is sleeping but they can also be very bulky and heavy for me at 5’2" and 110lbs. Some of the other features I was looking for in a stroller are:
* A seat that fully reclines
* A footrest on the stroller that can be secured so that the stroller can make a bassinet (not one of my priorities, but a nice feature)
* A tray for the child (it doesn’t matter to me if there is a cup holder for my son or not because once he can use it the cup will end up on the ground anyway, that’s what toddlers do)
* At least one parent cup holder and a storage compartment of some kind near the handle
* A large basket that can be accessed without disturbing a sleeping baby in the fully reclined position
* Straps that are easy to adjust and also easy to open/close with a squirming child either inside or in your arms
* Something that can fold up and fit into the trunk of my mid-size car with room to spare for other essentials or groceries
* Of coarse safety and durability so I can continue to use the stroller until my son is a toddler
In a car seat:
* Straps that are easy to adjust and also easy to open/close with a squirming child either inside or in your arms, especially in harsh weather since the winters here can get bad- I don’t want to be fumbling with straps when I’m hanging half outside of my car in a snow storm with my infant
* Comfortable fabric that is soft enough for a newborn but breathable enough not to make him sweaty and uncomfortable in the hot sticky weather – I also don’t want anything that will get hot in the sun while it is sitting in my car
* Safety
* Easy to install correctly and know that it is secured properly
I have been in and out of stores devoting hours, sometimes whole days, to trying to find the right combination. I have read reviews on every website I could find and they all contradict each other. The only consistent review I have seen is that the stroller frames (with no seat, the ones you snap your car seat into) are poorly built and the wheels fall off. Other than that, people are often arguing about who’s child is bigger and why my child is 8 months and still fits in this car seat and her child is 7 months and can’t anymore or whether you should use your stroller/car seat in such and such way. My favorite reviews are the ones that say they have never actually used the product because the baby isn’t here yet, but it’s so beautiful! That is not helpful.
So, I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the topic with their opinions on the features of products they have actually used. Thank you for your time!
I recently had a baby boy. He is now 2 months old. I have already raised a daughter who is now 15. The mother if my baby has also raised a boy who is now 6 years old. My sister has been helping baby sit some. I have been going round and round with her because she ranted and yelled at me b/c she saw me having him sleep in the car seat with the cozy cover fleece cover on the car seat. My sister didn’t want to go up the stairs when she watched him so she let him sleep in the car seat when she watched him. He got spoiled to the car seat. During the day though, his room is bright, so for darkness, we put the cozy cover on and put the little flap down. There is a space between his face and the flap. Also, there is a gap all the way around the flap, AND I unzipped one side down some for more air. furthermore, we turned a fan on toward the car seat and our home temp is around 70
The baby has slept fine and didn’t get too hot this way several times but she was yelling at me telling me I am suffocating the kid and all this. I told her it is not unsafe and that we would not do anything we considered unsafe. I have been fighting for days with her on this. I finally got him to sleep in the crib. Now my mom is bitching about the way I swaddle him in a blanket and lay him in the crib saying "He can’t move his Arms!!!" WTF! I am so stressed out and sick of the women in my family trying to control everything and stress me out! I told her I was going to post on here and hopefully have proof that it is not unsafe.. to shove in her face cause she is getting on my last nerves!
Does anyone else see parents driving around with no car seats? I saw a van full of kids from about 3 months to 6 years and not one was in a car seat!! I called 911! What the hell is wrong with people! You don’t have to buy a 0.00 Britax, just buy an effin car seat! I’m trying to talk to my congressman about stiff penalties for breaking this law. What do you think?
I honestly think that there should be a car seat registry. If you have a child that requires a car seat then you should have to register it with you state every 6 months. If you fail to regisiter an approriate seat then your liscense should be suspended until it is regisitered. It may seem like a long, repeatitive process but if it saves one child life is it not worth it? How much would that computer prgram cost with an automatic 800 number. Sounds like a step in the right direction to me!
My son is turning two next month and I was thinking about getting him the John Deere Gator by peg perego. the suggested age is 3-6 years old. I have read several customer reviews online and many people have bought this for two year olds. Will he be able to steer it? Does anyone own one of these? Are they worth 0? Thanks everyone ![]()
My son is 6 years old and 44 pounds is he old enough to get rid of his car seat? I live in Maryland
Wow…I had no idea. My 10 month old outgrew her infant seat, so I got my older daughter’s Britax Marathon down from the closet and drove over to the fire station for help installing it, since I couldn’t figure out how to get it installed in the rear facing position. Well they informed me that it will expire in July! It was manufactured in July 2003! I had no idea, but apparently ALL car seats expire in 6 years or less and should then be destroyed. My child’s safety is by far my biggest concern, but I don’t know how I feel about throwing away a car seat I paid almost 0 for not too long ago. It doesn’t help that it still looks brand new since it was used in my mom’s car only a handful of times.
Did you know about this? If so, did you throw away the seat or continue to use it anyway? How do you feel about it?
Are there laws in Oregon and Washington about using carseats past their reccommended expiration date? The seats have the date of manufacture but no expiration date printed on them.
I know it is better to have a current car seat, but these are 0 Britax seats manufactured in early 2004. They have over a year of life left, but will it be against the law in Oregon and Washington to use them past 6 years?
No accidents, no bending or breaking of the plastic. Still look brand new. I just think these would be better than a new seat.
This would be for rare use when I babysit or have a friend over.
I know it is better to use a new carseat, but the 6 yr old Britax seat is probably a lot better than a new seat with little padding made to the lowest standards.
So does any one know if it is against the law to use the seat in Oregon and Washington? The expiration is not written on the seat, just the date of manufacture.
Car seats should not be used after 6 years. Is there anywhere they can be recycled? Hate to see them end up in a landfill!
My husband and I are expecting our first child and we want the safest car seat. Im not sure what the pros and cons of both of these are or if anyone has seen anything in consumer reports (good or bad) regarding these.
Any info would be great. I also heard the Sunshine kids expires 8 years whereas Britax is 6 years after, but Im not sure if that true.
Any input would appreciated!
is the baby trend snap and go compatible with the britax convertable car seat ?
i dont want to buy an infant carrier, they seem like a waste of money so i decided to buy a convertable from birth to 6 years old. i wanted to use the baby trend snap and go but i am not sure if that car seat would fit…

I am thinking of splurging for this car seat since it will last until my baby reaches 6 years old. Has anyone used this kind or has other suggestions? I hadn’t heard of this brand until I started looking last night.
