At what age can Baby travel by plane?

I am 37 weeks old and my brother is suffering with Leukemia (AML-M4) we live in Georgia (pos soviet union) and we have not a good conditions here with hospitals so we are sending him for BMT to Israel, we sent our blood for testing (3 siblings) to see which one of us is a Donor for his bone marrow, in case its me I will have to go for a week I think to give him my blood but I am scared thinking what can I do with new born baby? I think I heard Babies can not travel by plane at really young age, also My husband is not happy with the idea of me taking the Baby away at such young age, but I am also worried how can I leave him for a who9le week? especially I am planing on breastfeeding

Any advice?
Tro I am asking not saying I will take my Baby if it is risky because if I need to go it means I have to go to save my Brothers life, I am not asking this question for lecturing but for advise…

Any one can tell me how is it safer to leave my Baby with my Husband? my Sister who has 2 kids can help him to look after, I just feel sad if I have to leave him behind but I will choose in direction which will be better for my Baby, I have to go if I am a Donor there is no question about it
s Doctor told me they merely need my Stern cells from bone marrow it is not risky atoll for the Donor but really risky for the Patient… I think they will be injecting me for a whole week with something which will make my blood to process elements faster and after they take my blood from vain and give it to my brother through transfusion….

I’m installing the babies car seat in my 06 camry…Which is better LATCH or the traditional method?? Using the seatbelt looks a little less complicated, but I wondered if there was any benefit to LATCH over using the seatbelt.

I was at the market earlier and saw a couple drive up..with an infant in the moms lap (she was the front seat passenger in a truck) I get soooo mad when I see this!!! I mean a car seat is not expensive, and if you can’t afford one most police stations will give you one. So of all the days to leave my cell at home, I had to pick the day I see this poor baby being so dangerously neglected..So not being able to let this go, I walked over to the security guard and let her know..and suggested that she have an officer near by when the couple left..that way they could be fined, or told how completely dangerous and illegal this is..but the security guard just said she did not want to be involved..I really hope that poor baby makes it home safely..What makes it even worse is the mom and dad were both wearing safety belts…how completely selfish!!! So was I over reacting? The security guard looked very annoyed..and what would you fellow moms and dads have done?

LOL:suggested category sports-horse racing??
I understand what your saying about breastfeeding..I breastfed ALL five of my babies, and I also would breastfeed in the car at the market..or anywhere else for that matter..however I did not ever take them out of the carseat while the car was moving..sorry. Regardless of that fact..that was not the case here..I watched them pull in off of the main street and park..all the while the poor baby was in the moms lap.

I want to visit my relatives and especially my brother and grandma in Mexico. We’re in California (northern) and they live in Sonora, accross the Arizona border.

Travel Options:
It is a 20 hour drive non-stop and about 23 making stops.

We can also fly to Tucson (2 hour flight) and my relatives would pick-us up there and drive us to our destination (4 hour drive).

The other option is to fly all the way there but it is around 0 per person and that’s a big difference.

Also very important, my baby is born in March and I would like to go before I start work again (around July-August). What would be a good time for us to go? is June too early? I was thinking June or July. The other problem is that I wanted to avoid the Summer there because it gets up to 125 and I’m not sure the baby could take it (but many babies are born there and do fine just like in Arizona).

Most of my relatives are coming to see the baby once she’s born but my grandma’s in bed and my brother’s passport expired.

What should I do? When and how should I travel with the baby? Thanks a lot

With our 3rd child, we only used the infant carrier for 2 months and then decided to just buy a convertible car seat. Luckily the infant car seat was from his brother, so it wasn’t a waste of money. I’m thinking for the next baby we might just get a convertible car seat instead of the infant one. What’d you use?
I haven’t read up on car seat safety in a few months, but the last I read back in September said that babies shouldn’t be left in the infant carriers when they are not in the car because it restricts the oxygen flow.

Baby choking safety device?

I saw this device a few months ago, but I can’t remember where, and I would like to purchase one. It is a small plastic circular shaped object, that is supposed to be similar to the size of a baby’s throat. You would fit an object into it to see if a baby could choke on it.

I would like to keep it around the house to show the older kids how easy it would be for the baby to pick up a small object and choke, and hopefully remind them to keep everything off of the floor and counters where the baby can reach.

Does anyone know where to get these? I have checked babies r us and I can’t find them there.

Britax carseat for chubby baby?

I’m in the process of researching carseats for my chubby (21 pounds, 27 inches) 4 month old. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to the Britax Diplomat or Boulevard, haven’t completely ruled out the Decathalon because of the adjustable crotch strap. Like the Diplomat because it seems to be a shrunk down version of the boulevard - great for my Nissan Altima as I hear that the Boulevard is quite bulky. However, the Diplomat only goes up to 40 pounds whereas the Boulevard goes up to 65 pounds. Want my big baby to stay in this seat until he’s ready for a booster whenever that is. Anyone have these carseats and big babies? Thanks.
No he’s only 4 months old and 21 pounds -breastfed only as well. Both my husband and I are tall and thin but were very big babies ourselves. I guess it’s just genetics. Doc says he’s healthy.

Or are they recommended for babies a little older? Someone gave me a Safety 1St.jogging stroller and it doesn’t seem to have much support. It wasn’t given to me for jogging, because I don’t jog. A friend of mine bought it after adopting a baby and they didn’t like it because the wheels don’t swivel. I find it bulky and cumbersome.
Anyone else experience with this gear?? Thanks

Safety 1st baby monitors?

I have a safety 1st baby monitor that is driving me insane…I keep picking up on other people’s babies. Is there a monitor that won’t have this problem but is still on the cheap side at the same time, or am I going to have to break down and buy a expensive brand?

Baby’s safety and our dog. Your opinions please?

It’s quite a long story, sorry!

We have a 6 months old boy and a big 2 year old border collie cross breed.
The baby recently started ‘crawling’ around and is very interested in the dog. He tries to get to the dog (like all babies) and grab her. Up until now our dog (who is normally a very gentle and sweet girl, though disobedient when there’s something going on that’s more interesting that listening to us) would just get up and walk off when the baby got to close. Tonight, however, the baby was on his way to her (his dad was standing right next to him and I was a few feet away in the kitchen talking to him) he didn’t even touch her and she barked at him. It was a high pitched bark and after she walked off. My boyfriend told her off straight away, but I totally freaked out. She’s a big dog (almost 60 pounds) and the baby is so small and vulnerable when he’s on the ground. I can’t be sitting next to him all the time when he’s playing on the floor.
I know quite a bit about dogs and how they ‘think’, their hierarchy system etc. I know she should have not even felt it was her place to tell the baby off. She must think she is higher in rank than he is.
I am so scared that this could lead to her ending up biting him. I don’t want to take that change and think we should find her a new home.
We live in an apartment, so I can’t send the dog outside when the baby is crawling around. I also can’t lock her up in a room. The baby on the ground most of the time when he’s awake and what kind of life would our dog have being locked up in a small room all day?

Am I over reacting or am I right to be afraid and not willing to take a change? The baby’s safety is the number 1 most important thing here. My boyfriend says he understand me, but doesn’t agree. He thinks she’ll never hurt the baby. I think dogs are unpredictable and you can never know.

Thanks!
The funny thing that when I was pregnant I was 100% sure the dog would be crazy about the baby, protect him etc and that the cat (who was like my baby, even sleeping in my arms at night) would be jealous. Turned out that the dog was jealous and started fighting with other dogs (so we lavished he with attention and she turned normal again) and the cat had no problem at all, even though she ruthlessly got ‘kicked’ out of the bed after the birth. I think she seem him as an extension of me and therefore he’s okay by her standards :)

I love the idea of a baby gate. The apartment is perfect for it. Thanks so much to everyone who made that suggestion!

We have 2 daughters and a little boy due Sept. I have no idea how to install an infant car seat in the back seat of my truck because it seems so small. My daughters sit on each side so baby will have to be in the middle. Does anyone know if its even possible and how? Have any of you done this? I am sure I can make it fit I am just worried about babies safety. I have never seen any put in a truck like mine. The back seat is a skinny bench seat for 3 passengers.

And no buying another car is not an option. I don’t know why some people think that everyone can just jump up and buy another car whenever they need one.

I believe Baby Bjorn only works up to 25 lbs–why do they stop there? What can I use for larger babies?

Question on an Infant carrier?

Okay… I have some time before baby comes in april but wanted to see what you thought of this carseat. This is my fourth child, and my old infant carrier is pretty outdated. I was doing research and I think I have found one… but also wanted to see if any of you have it or know someone who does… how they liked it and how well it fits in vehicles ect…. I am looking at the Graco SafeSeat… The one that will accomodate an infant to 30 lbs and 32 inches tall. My biggest problem is that I have VERY large long babies… and they tend to be out of a traditional carrier before they are 3 months old! (my smallest was 7lbs9oz and 23in at birth… two weeks early!!!) Does anyone have experience with this particular carseat and would you recommend it?? why and why not? Thank you!
