yesterday me and my mil went to babies r us to get a car seat we liked on their site. so sad when i felt the seat and realized it was rock hard. like metal. they are now making them with this *winged shape* by the head area and it feel like its just pretty material covering rock hard metal!! so I felt the area the baby lays in with her bak and that was rock hard too.!! i would not put a new born in something soo hard. Id think thats be more dangerous then anything. we need a cute girly style *soft* infant car seat but the only other options are online and we cant *feel them n checked them out*. also would like it more light weight easier to carry. any ideas? what do you guys use??? we need to keep it under 9.00

My daughter is 12.5 months and only 20 lbs. Her infant car seat holds up to 22lbs. I plan on keeping her in the infant carrier for a few more weeks until she pushes closer to 22lbs. I need to buy a new convertible seat that still can be rear facing. Which one should I buy? What has the best safety rating? I have some gift certificates from her birthday to Babies R’ Us plus a 15% off coupon so I guess I have to buy it from there. Any suggestions for one from that store?

Our son is 5 months old, before he was born we had one given to us, it’s about 4 years old and kind of heavy and hard to get the "handle thing" to go up and down. I want to buy him a new one, a somewhat lighter one.

Just looking for ideas or if you have one that you really like. I dont want one of those 0 ones or anything though. I’m at work and Babies R Us website is blocked so I cant really look myself.

I’ve seen alot of nice stuff at babies r us that were kind of expensive, that I’ve seen at WalMart and Target for less, but does more expensive mean better quality? I’m pregnant with my first (almost 3 months) and decided buying new would be better, but which stores have better quality?

So I’m trying to be conscientious of everyone and their budgets as I register for our first baby. I am currently listed for 2 (Target and Babies R Us) in hope that it makes for more convenient shopping for everyone involved. I’m having 3 showers (his family, my friends since I don’t have family in the states, and work). We make more than his family, or mine and I want everyone to feel comfortable making purchases. I also don’t want anyone to feel as if I’m asking for too much. It’s a delicate topic. SO… Is this a good amount of product or too much? Is it realistic? Too expensive? If you were a guest coming to one of the showers would you feel as if I were being too greedy?

Editing to add that my parents bought the crib, mattress, dresser and changing table. So that’s taken care of. I’d buy it all myself, and don’t really care if I have to. I just don’t want to limit people. The only thing I might get sooner, rather than waiting is the carseat, since you never really know when you’ll need it, and its kind of importaint….
Also failed to mention that I directly report to the owner and CEO of my company and I feel as if they’ll get me a larger item for the work shower. So I feel as if I have to have something larger for purchase if that makes sense.
Thanks for your “help.” I’m not really certain what you mean by obsolete as we plan on having more children and will therefore use these items again. Cribs and car seats aren’t disposable where I live…

My registry is a list of items that I would purchase even if no one bought them for me. I don’t need gifts. I can buy this all and it won’t affect my finances. People would want to stab me, as people really do want to have a village feel in a new baby. I’d welcome any gift, and really even a card if that were all they can afford. It is not about the gift, it’s about celebrating my new baby!

Oh, and thanks for adding all this up for me. Now that I see the total, it’s not that much. I have friends that have spent that much on baby furniture alone. But I guess this is like the Olympics and you’re the Russian judge that low balls and nitpicks, and who’s opinion just gets tossed out in the end. There’s always the bitter, jealous, negative-Nelly, and here and now it’s you…

I saw a peg at my babies r us store and on the side, in the seat part there are two big ancors..does anyone know what that is and are they permanent or do they come out? It seems like it would be rather uncomfortable for a baby??

We need new car seats.What age or height do they need to be not to use a booster seat.I’m still kinda confused about that because it keeps changing.Also what is the best kind for a 4 foot tall 6 year old?

I was in babies r us and noticed that a safety first stroller had this bar the goes across the seat of the stroller that the car seat clips onto. I was wondering on if anyone has a safety stroller and if it came with the bar?

Hey everyone, my son is 2 weeks old and we both absolutely hate his car seat. The seat has almost no padding, the head support is made out of styrofoam and he always cries in it. I got it off of the internet after reading "awesome" reviews about it. I want to get him a new one and am planning on taking him to babies r us tomorrow to test some new seats out…but im wondering wich is best in your opinion
i got the baby trend sundance travel system. i love the pattern and colors, and the website i got it off of had great reviews on it so i figured that it was perfect.

So i have a high risk pregnancy and an overly cautious and slightly superstious husband, so i am 23 weeks and i have bought NOTHING… this however has been replaced by EXCESSIVE amounts of research on baby stuff, every freaking baby object you can imagine i have went nuts on reading reviews of, especially strollers. I have read so many blogs, seen so many pictures, i am literally obssessed with this stroller thing, i even read the reviews of European websites and i use a translator sometimes! I thought I had it figured out and settled on the Quinny Buzz + bassinet + Maxi-Cosi-Mico car seat, but then i realized the maxi cosi only lasts to 20 pounds and my friends baby is 22 pounds at 4 months! THen i saw the PEG PEREGO SKATE, and now i think i want that stroller instead. I was obssessed with the Stokke Explorey before i saw the Quinny in the store. I never liked the bugaboo b/c of it folds in two pieces. SO now i am just becoming super confused!!!!!!! What should i do? what stroller do i get? I am getting it later but i want to decide on it now? Please do not tell me i am insane for spending a lot of money on a stroller, i know it is excessive but when i went to Babies R US to look at the basic things like Graco and Evenflo I almost cried. They do not compare, and i do not want to buy another stroller in a year because those fell apart. I live in the city, the stroller has to be sturdy, i do not go on public transport pretty much ever , I do not use a car often, only with my husband (its a stick, i dont know how to drive it) ….. i want a stroller that is forward and rare facing and i want something that will last until child 1 is 4 and then through any other children i will have.
umm the stuff at babies r us sucked. They do not have the same stuff as they do online. They do not have stokke in stores or even bugaboo, atleast not the store i went to
Unfortuanatley i am in the US. The stroller options availabe in Europe just do not compare to anything we have here. The best strollers here are imported from EU, and only few are imported. You guys have the Joolz Bloom out recently, i can not even look at it as no store has it.

I bought a used car seat and didn’t realize that there wasn’t a tether belt that came with it. I REALLY need to buy a belt but have no idea where to buy one at. Can you get them at Babies R Us or Toys R Us?

We are at week 34 awaiting the arrival of our Babygirl. Gifts and hand-me-downs are starting to come in that we’re marking off the "need to get" list (per Babies R Us).

We still have lots we need to get, so I wanted to ask for your opinions. For all those moms and dads out there, I have attached, below, the Babies R Us "Parents Checklist." What is necessary? What is not? What is invaluable? What did you get on a whim and are eternally grateful for having? What turned out to be nothing but junk? What brands are the best (i.e., I hear that Boudreaux’s "Butt Paste" is the best there is)?

I’m starting to scout out Craigslist and eBay for deals (who the heck knew breast pumps were unbelievably expensive??? At least I can get new, in box items from eBay and save a few if I watch like a hawk!). If any of you have insights that you would share, we would be very grateful. Thanks!

Hello all. I have a 6 month old girl who is getting close to needing a bigger car seat at 28 inches. I just finished reading review after review, and it seems like everyone dislikes something about each one! I know I need to keep her rear facing as long as possible, so I would like one I can RF up to 30 lbs. Of course something that dosnt cost an arm and a leg is preferred. I even went to our local Babies R Us, and the staff really couldn’t tell me much. Any parents out there have some recommendations? I like the Alpha Sport NYC so far, what do you think of these?
