What is your favorite "baby-wearing" sling?

I am looking into getting a new one, my son is almost 1. I have gone through three different slings/carriers, he outgrew some of them, the others were hard on my back. Had a front carrier sling when he was an infant, then switched to the backpack styles (like Bjorn), but now I am looking at maybe a Moby, Peanut Shell, K’Tan, Kangaroo Carrier, etc…

I am kind of sick of wasting money on ones that don’t work/hurt.

Advice, tips, especially for older babies? Which carrier do you prefer?

I have a 1999 VW Jetta and am looking for a convertible car seat that will fit even with the front seats back far enough to accomodate drivers with long legs. So far it appears that the best fit will be the Britax Roundabout, but I also wanted check with you mommies and daddies on here. I went to carseatdata.org and the Britax roundabout seemed to be the only one that would work, but I would like personal experience as well as I don’t know the positions of the front seats when they check those. I know I can go to Babies R’us and try the seats in my car, but I won’t be able to do that for a few days. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Suggestions for a convertible car seat?

I need a car seat for a six month girl who is out growing her infant car seat. I need a seat that is safe and can fit rear facing in the back a PT Cruiser. I’m looking at the Alpha Omega Elite and the Evenflo Triumph Advance. Britax or Sunshine is not an option because of the price so please don’t suggest it or make me feel guilty for not buying it. Does any one know of features I need to look for or have a suggestion for or against any seats out there? I’m totally confused. Thanks in advance for you help!
I’ve read that the Alpha doesn’t recline in rear facing mode with out taking up a lot of space and the Evenflo has an odd buckle shape that digs into babies legs. Are these things true?

We have a 4 y/o daughter and 2 1/2 y/o son. We have the Graco Nautilus for our daughter and absolutely love it. She meets the requirements to use it as a booster but she also still meets requirements for the 5-pt harness and we plan on keeping her in that for as long as possible (better safe than sorry!) She is on the higher end for height and the lower for weight (75% and 25% respectively) and she fits in it with no problems.
However, we are currently looking to buy a harness/booster for our son. Originally we had just assumed we would also buy the Nautilus for him since we love it so much but decided to look around for a while first. After looking on numerous sites, we have found that the only real complaint on GN is the crotch strap being too close to the child’s body. We never noticed it on our daughter but after placing our son in her seat realized that it might become a problem for him before he will outgrow the 5-pt (He is in 50% for height, 85% for weight). He is currently just touching the strap (there are only 2 positions and it is in the furthest one). The instructions say that the strap should not be under their bodies.
I am very disappointed because I absolutely love this seat for my daughter and she does as well.

Has anyone used the GN as well as a comparable seat? Any suggestions for a comparable seat but without the crotch strap issue? Price is not a huge issue- we don’t want to spend an exorbitant amount of money, but the safety of our babies is more important than saving a buck. Thanks!

I am opening an infant/baby daycare in my home for only 3 babies . It is a small private daycare in order to take more personal care for the babies. I was going to charge .50 per hour or should I do a flat week fee? The daycares in my area range from 0 to 0 but they only take in 1 infant and 10 school children or toddlers mixed. There are not any daycares for infants only in this area. They only take in one with their large daycare , if that.

My 15 week old hates both the sling and baby borjn carrier I have. Every time she’s in it she curls up, kicks, and cries. Why is it? I thought babies love being with their moms.

Any owners of the ergo baby carrier?

Do you recommend it?
Yesterday at a 4th of July celebration at the park near my house I saw numerous mothers carry their babies in the ergo baby carrier, is it good quality and comfortable?

thanks

Just a general wondering if babies can sit in the bath (with no seat or anything, just on a mat) when they can sit unaided or if there was a recommended age for it.

My daughter is 13 months and can sit, crawl, cruise and stand (no walking just yet) absolutely fine :)

When did your babies have their first ‘big bath’? :)

Thanks everyone x

My husband and I have quadrouplets and we need a stroller that is made for 4 babies. As if right now we have 2 twin strollers but, I am unable to take our children to the park without having someone with me.
please let me know where we can get one.
Thanks

The American Academy of Pediatrics and the National Highway Safety Administration wants babies in rear facing seats until they are 2. Children in booster seats up to 12 years of age, and all children up to 13 to ride in back seats. If they keep raising these ages, the pentegon will have to start furnishing booster seats to the new soldiers and sailers.

Question about babies and car seats?

My brother has my neice riding in a forward facing carseat and she is only 8 months old. I always thought babies had to be in a rear facing car seat until they are like 2. So when should a baby be upgraded to a forward facing car seat?

Can I live without a double stroller?

I have a 1 yr old about to turn two and just had another baby. I have a single stroller but haven’t bought the double yet. They are so big and I’m not sure I would use it much. I haven’t used my single much, I used the wrap and baby rucksack but you can’t use that with two. Most places I go I can either rent a stroller or use a cart made for two. I’m just wondering if I will use it enough to justify the expense. You guys with 2 or more babies, how often did you use your strollers and do you like them? Anybody get by just fine without one?

How do you think our world would be different if infant formula was never invented?
How common would it be that women hired wet nurses?
How much do you think it would cost to hire a wet nurse?
Would obesity, diabetes, lactose intolerance, breast and ovarian cancers be less common?
I do not agree that some babies would die. There are Wet nurses and donated breastmilk still, just not formula.

Honestly, I have evaluated my life and think because of bad family blood (things they did) that I am cursed, could that be? Read a bit of my beginnings of my birth and life and tell me if I am jumping the gun here, I really need to know truthfully and Yahoo Answers Community can be brutally honest, so go to it and help me. It’s the only way but read a bit of this first:

CHAPTER I — THE KURSE OF MISS KANE – HOW IT BEGAN!

Hello, my name is Miss Kane and I’m not thoroughly sure when the Kurse of Miss Kane actually took hold of me. Maybe it was always ongoing in my family, but what I can recall, or as I can remember of this Kurse of Kane is that it’s a very real curse.

I was about to be born. Out of the 4 children my mother had, the hospital refused to sedate my mother with me, because mom’s water had broken in the middle of the night as she slept soundly, so she was quickly rushed to the hospital, almost giving birth to me in a taxi cab; A real drama unfolding that many would not soon forget! Actually someone said it was a huge black limo that dad hired to take them to the hospital, but by the time it drove up to the entrance of the medical facility, my head was popping out and mom was 10 center-meters. This may have been a good door of opportunity for me to be born very quickly, but for some strange reason the best the hospital staff could do out of fear for both mother and me, was to give her the drug they were familiar with, to not to induce the pregnancy, but to slow it down, which might have been a big mistake, as they waited for my mother’s doctor to come. I was supposed to be born quickly, but the dreaded Kurse of Kane took hold on me, or claimed me.

After a very traumatic birth by mother, the very next day she contracted a horrid dreadful Staph infection, out of the blue, less than 24 hours after I was born. Most probably it cropped up out of nowhere because of the burden put her in having me was a strain for a woman who birthed other babies, even though the oldest son, a heavy birth, but was brought into the world with as much less stress as they were doing in those days. As stated my mother was heavily sedated when the others were born, but with my birth it was something out of a nightmare for both mother, newborn and doctor.

Miss Kane was immediately separated from her mom and taken home by Dad, with many thoughts running through his own head of him getting ill, or even his new born daughter picking up the taboo infection. At least that is what I felt it could be because our growing family was destined for wealth and lots of money and we were growing fast.

In Miss Kane’s Own Words: Besides being rushed out of the hospital and not bonding with my mother due to her sickness and ill health, I did bond with my father. Also, strangely enough, although it must have started out on my second oldest brother’s part as a bit of jealousy, I also bonded with my brother too although he did stutter and didn’t say much in conversation, which probably calmed me down with him just quietly staring at me and not talking due to the stuttering, or perhaps the jealousy turned into fascination as I may have looked up at him and smiled. So in the end, he and I had a wonderful brother-sister relationship up until my younger sister became a bit prettier and sweeter in the late 1970’s. I also was very close with her as we grew up. (More on that later in story). And in just a few short years, when I was just 4 years old, my brother and I were fighting over a car rest in the back seat, not belted in as our grandfather drove us back to their house in on the beach! Ten stitches closed up that first head wound, Then about 6 months after that incident my brother again wounded me by hitting me over the head with a winter shovel. That sustained 10 more stitches but in the back of my head. Both incidents were extremely traumatic and may have contributed to my tantrums and odd social behavior later in life or perhaps triggered mental stress to be more compounded. Whatever the facts, life was starting to look like a curse in many ways.

Miss Kane’s original thoughts: Bad luck, bad genes, bad DNA (a man once said he loved me, but that my DNA scared him!). Even bad timing and bad parenting in many areas, although my parents were wealthy as we grew up. But understand that this curse is in social isolation form, where your peers go against you and you are like an outcast. Outcast Syndrome, a curse. Throughout my life the curse would come up many times as if it had the right timing and mine was shot to hell.
