I’m looking at the cosco alpha omega elite, Or Britax…..
I need help deciding which convertible car seat to get for my 11 month old baby: Britax or Sunshine Kids and also what model? I been doing some research and have chosen these two as my final choices because I really want the safest convertible car seat, Please help me!!!!
roundabout, blvd, marathon, etc…i want a britax for sure, but i am so confused as to which one is the safest….i have a very petite little lady that is 4 mos old…so my ?s….anyone know which is the safest of the britax line? do you possibly have a link that explains which and why? is four mos too young for her to be comfortable in a convertible seat? i know they are rated for that weight, i just wonder about if she goes to sleep will her head flop? thanks for all your info in advance….
I need a spare anyways, and my britax is just too much to lug around all the time. I need something for an airplane, and I guess we are taking a bus from there to disney? I’m not entirely sure. I need the best combination of portability and safety. Thanks in advance.
We have two Britax Marathons, one for each car… and I have a problem that NO ONE else has ever commented on. Every reviewer raves on and on about the wonderfulness of the car seat. We definitely love the seat… it is comfy, it is dependable, easy to install, stylish… etc. BUT I don’t seem to understand the buckle that comes up between baby’s legs. Most car seat buckles in this area have a little bit of strap in between the bottom of the seat (where baby’s rear-end is…) and where the harness actually snaps into it. When I go to buckle my daughter in, I have to snap the harness pieces in WAY down into her crotch area (sorry.. no better way to explain) and it seems WAY too tight and uncomfy in between her legs. Has anyone else experienced this? How can the carseat possibly accommodate a 4 year old…? It squishes my 6 month old’s little legs… I know the straps are supposed to be tight but it is a tad ridiculous. I can’t seem to find a way to lengthen it… and I checked both seats and some displays seat in stores and they are all the same way. Am I doing something wrong…? Quite confused….
Okay I appreciate the input BUT the car seat is not installed improperly. It is reclined at the proper angle and is extremely tight. My hubby’s best friend is a firefighter.. and he checked my installation.
It is a problem with the actual carseat… the problem is the same whether it is in the car or sitting on the ground. I apologize if you misunderstood my question…
Thumbs… quit going through and just giving everyone thumbs down in every question that you answer.. it is annoying…
nothingconstant…. I think you may be the only person who understood the question
My son is growing out of his infant car seat, and my uncle is going to buy him a new one for Christmas. I am considering the ones listed above, and am having a hard time making a final decision. The Decathlon goes up to 65lbs, 15 more than the others. I have an Evenflo carseat in my mother’s car, its a cheap one, and I don’t like it much at all, but the Evenflo Triumph is less expensive than either of the Britax’s, and it’s different enough from the other one I have that it seems that it would work. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t want to use anything that will accommodate less than 50 lbs as my son is growing very quickly, and I would love for this to be the last carseat I have to get for him.
I’ve spent hours researching car seats for my 9 month old who has outgrown his infant seat. I’ve always heard that Britax is the best but really couldn’t afford their prices. I found the Evenflo and tried it out in the store. It seemed extremely comfortable and I liked the harness adjustment knob as well as the price. I’ve read great reviews on it on many sites, the only cons I’ve read seem to be it’s size and difficutly to install. I was surprised after paying to see Consumer Reports, that the Marathon ranked under the Alpha Omega! which was under the Enveflo. I’ve found a great deal online for the Marathon where I’d only be paying more than the Evenflo. I must admit I’m hesitant to buy such a big item online for fear of arriving damaged or having problems returning it should I need to. It’s so much easier to buy from a store. Any feedback from experienced Moms with the Marathon or ETADLX?
Best Affordable Convertible Car Seats?
I just bought 2 britax boulevards for my husband and my cars, so as you all know, they are pretty pricey. Looking for an inexpensive, but SAFE car seat for grandma’s car (which is not an everyday ride)….
I want a convertible car seat that can go up to 65 pounds… Any suggestions around the 0 range?
My twin girls are about to outgrow their infant car seats, and we’re looking into convertible ones.
The only ones I hear unanimously good reviews on is the Britax, but at 0+ per, that’s not really something we can afford at the moment. I know all car seats are tested for safety, so I want to know what your personal experiences are, whether you felt your child was safe in his or her car seat, and whether he or she was comfortable in it.
Thanks!
I know a lot of people come on here looking for advice about what car seat to get when their LO outgrows the infant carrier, and want a Britax but can’t afford it.
http://www.albeebaby.com/britax-sale-items.html has some really good deals on certain Britax models right now. I just ordered one for 9.99 and it is at my local BabiesRUS for 0. There’s also free shipping until January 31st so it’s a great deal.
my husband insists it’s fine, but i’m concerned..
we got our convertible car seat (a britax) so that it has no side to side movement, but it still moves front to back… mainly it can be lifted up at the head & pivots at the seatbelt toward the back of the seat…
we don’t have the latch system, it’s just held in by the seatbelt, and there’s nothing else in the car to attach it to (nothing on the floorboard like one option in the manual shows)
the manual says nothing about front to back movement…
i’m going to get it checked out, but i have to wait till our appt & i just want to know until then…
is this safe???
yeah, it can rock.
but it’s a convertible seat, not an infant seat.
(side note on not being able to leave without them checking the fit–the stupid hospital i delivered at required us to bring the seat for them to checked how the *baby* fit in it, and REFUSED to come out to help us check the fit in the car–and after taking it out to bring it up we couldn’t get it back in right!! we were there for an hour until some random lady helped us!)
yeah, i have a towel under it now (otherwise there’d be too much slack in the seatbelt due to the buckle placement & it had side to side movement) but it still rocks front to back. the seat in front of it is back all the way, but the issue is still that it can be lifted from the front edge of the seat, so the head of the car seat can be tilted toward the rear of the car…
it’s *tight* in there, it *pivots* at the seat belt…
(hard to explain i guess!)
the car seat has a tether to hold it down, but my car doesn’t have anything to attach it to… the manual treats the tether as an option…? but it’s not entirely clear…
our fire stations don’t check car seats anymore. we called them all & they don’t do it! one particular police station does it by appt only. it’s so frustrating!
without the towel, the buckle is too close to use the locking clip on the seat and has too much slack.
WITH the towel (in the "crack" of the regular seat), it raises the seat edge (also creating a better incline) so the belt has further to travel and the buckle stops short of the lockign clip–*eliminating* excess slack that allowed the car seat to move side to side.
I read that this carseat is made by Britax and I can’t afford that,so I thought this would be a better alternitive? And does anyone know if I go to the States to purchase can I use it here?

She’s well under the weight limit for the Britax
We were rear ended yesterday with our two children in the car, which basically totalled our car.
Our 3 yr old is in a carseat still, not a booster. We’re getting her a new one that converts into a booster down the road.
My concern is our infant, who is 4 months old. She is 12.5 lbs and 25 inches long. Her Graco carseat goes up 26in.
Should we just get her a rearfacing carseat that eventually can be turned around or should I buy another carrier? Any ideas on what is a good carseat? (I want a Britax but I don’t know if the insurance company will think that is reasonable!)
Thankfully, no one was hurt, not even the other driver!!
We’re all very lucky and blessed!!
