I went to the DMV to have my infant carrier base installed and they put it in the center of the backseat, telling me that was the safest. I have a new VW Jetta Wagon. It has the latch system but only on the two sides, not in the middle. It was hard for the guy to get it in properly with a tight enough fit. My husband thinks it should be installed on one of the sides instead of the middle. He also thinks it should be easy to take in and out for when we need to lay down the back seat to transport something large. I thought it should be professionally installed and then left alone. But, that takes away from a big part of the functionality of the car. We really need to be able to lay down the back seat sometimes. Has anyone else run into this? Do you leave your car seat base in place? Do you always have to put them in the middle?

I’m pretty sure the only reason he comes over to see his child is because he wants to see me, I could be wrong, but he just acts disinterested. He will hold the baby but doesn’t interact with him, even when I try to help him. I don’t want to get back together with him and he has made it clear that he is trying to do just that. He plans on using an old(not meeting safety standards), dirty car seat when he is able to have the baby by himself. I just don’t feel like this is about the baby and I just want whats best for my child. I know it is important for a child to have a father, but I’m not confident he is going to be good for my child.

Hi there, this is a little random I guess! My boyfriend has an old car seat which I’d like to have re-covered in leather and fixed onto a base to make a chair Top Gear style…does anyone know anywhere that might do this please? I live in the Wiltshire area.
Thanks in advance!

Would you take the time to put them in their car seat, hold them tight in the passenger seat of the vehicle or in the back….or call an ambulance even if your insurance didn’t cover it and it was over 3,000 bucks?
I guess this is a weird question…I just read another question where people said to take them to the ER.
I think I would probably hold her tight just because the hospital is only 2 lights down from our house. But, if I were away from home, I would just call the ambulance.
Also, do you mommies have a plan for the family in case you were separated during a crisis (flood, tornado, hurricane)? Where would you meet up?
We would meet up at the football stadium.

I just bought a convertible car seat for my 1 year old. His father and grandmother are afriad that it’s going to "break in half" if we get into a wreck. They said there is some kind of rating system for the safety of all car seats. All I can find is convience ratings and a statement saying that all car seats are safe because they all have to pass the govornments tests. So am I missing something? If I am I will definetly check into it since this is my baby’s safety but I can’t find any safety ratings.
Also, if anyone actually has wrecked in one how did that go? It’s a Cosco Scenera 22197ANQ.

valco, bugaboo cameleon, peg perego (skate, uno), quinny buzz, l’coo tango stroller, stokke xplory, phil and teds.. if there are ones in this group of strollers you wouldn’t recommend please let me know..also if you got any other suggestions it would help…but i’m confused on these ones..i’m wondering if it’s better to have it so the car seat just snaps on top of stroller bed or if you remove basinet and clip on car seat..for ex. the perego uno vs. the perego skate..also is it best to have the basket at bottom of stroller for storage..just curious if i would miss that or not..some of them don’t have it…thanks.

I am due in 3 months. I am looking for car seat for my little one. I was thinking of getting the brand safety 1st since it was the cheapest at .96. But I am not sure if it is a good and safe brand. I know there is Garco and Evenflo but those brands are a little more expensive. I need something I can afford since I am low on budget. Poor me. But it doesn’t matter when it comes to safety of my child so which brand do you think or know it better?

I’m installing the babies car seat in my 06 camry…Which is better LATCH or the traditional method?? Using the seatbelt looks a little less complicated, but I wondered if there was any benefit to LATCH over using the seatbelt.

I just bought the Evenflo ‘Symphony 65′ All-in-One Car Seat because was the seat with best high settings (tall baby 8 months, 76cm), the seat has really good reviews, but a couple of reviews w/ the same problem. The seat is properly installed.
Can anybody tell me if this reduces his safety?
*when he falls sleep.
What kind of car seat did you use? (not infant seat)

my in laws - more specifically, my mother in law - is freaking me out.
I have an 11 day old girl, and weve had some problems getting breastfeeding established, so im somewhat self conscious and unsure.
Whenever my mother in law comes to "help out" (consisting of her sitting beside the baby in her car seat, just staring at her for 4 hours and doing nothing at all "helpful") and i have to breastfeed, she comes over and like stares at the baby while shes nursing. Dont get me wrong, my mother in law is kind and sweet (and brings me pizza on her visits!) but it just unnerves me a bit…
I get stressed out, (i dont want this woman looking at my areola) and baby gets stressed and cant latch on.
What do i do? Ive tried covering her with a blanket but the mother in law comes and lifts it up so she can see better. I would go into another room, but if its just me and her i feel kinda bad … especially as she brings me pizza!
Help someone!

We have a 14 months old baby and would like to travel (domestic) using airplane from Midwest to California. this is gonna be our first travel with baby and have several questions:
-how many airline tickets we should purchase. how’s the sitting arrangements if it is 2 tickets (husband , wife)and if it is 3 tickets (husband, wife, baby). is there any special rates?
- should the baby sits in a car seat while on the plane?
- we need to rent a car. should we bring our own car seat?
any additional inputs/tips/hints are appreciated

I am going to get the baby trend flex loc carrier. Baby trend doesn’t have the double joggers with the car seat attachment(that I can find). And the only joggers I have found only attach their specific brands. So if I am missing something please let me know! Price isn’t really my concern. This is one of the most important things we want to buy!! So please if you have one or know of a site that has a LOT of strollers please let me know!!

I was at the market earlier and saw a couple drive up..with an infant in the moms lap (she was the front seat passenger in a truck) I get soooo mad when I see this!!! I mean a car seat is not expensive, and if you can’t afford one most police stations will give you one. So of all the days to leave my cell at home, I had to pick the day I see this poor baby being so dangerously neglected..So not being able to let this go, I walked over to the security guard and let her know..and suggested that she have an officer near by when the couple left..that way they could be fined, or told how completely dangerous and illegal this is..but the security guard just said she did not want to be involved..I really hope that poor baby makes it home safely..What makes it even worse is the mom and dad were both wearing safety belts…how completely selfish!!! So was I over reacting? The security guard looked very annoyed..and what would you fellow moms and dads have done?
LOL:suggested category sports-horse racing??
I understand what your saying about breastfeeding..I breastfed ALL five of my babies, and I also would breastfeed in the car at the market..or anywhere else for that matter..however I did not ever take them out of the carseat while the car was moving..sorry. Regardless of that fact..that was not the case here..I watched them pull in off of the main street and park..all the while the poor baby was in the moms lap.
