My husband and I are trying to figure this out. Right now it’s no problem, Noah stays in the middle, but when we have our second what do we do? I know the middle is the safest spot but I don’t see how that’s possible with two children. So if you have a newborn and a toddler(or older infant) how do you have the car seats set up in your vehicle?
Sorry, I meant to add other than the middle is one side of the car safer than the other to have a seat located on?

All 3 of my boys ages 8,11 and 14 still use car seats. They are all very small for their age.

My 14 year old prepubescent son is only 4′10-4′11 around 85 lbs, I still make him use a booster seat while riding in the car.

Should I remove the car seat and allow him to sit in the car without it? Its always been used for a good safety reasons

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar, but we weren’t overweight because,
WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD’s, no surround-sound or CD’s, no cell phones, no personal computer! s, no Internet or chat rooms…….
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them…CONGRATULATIONS!

He is not emberrased by any of his friends, a couple of his friends still use a booster seat, and almost all his friends are around age 11.

Infant, Lufthansa, and Car Seats?

I am going to be traveling soon with my baby on Lufthansa airlines from Germany to the US. We bought her a seat and want to use her car seat for her during the flight. The care seat passes US regulations for use on an airplane (we bought the car seat in America), so I was wondering if they will allow me to use it. I tried looking on their website but couldn’t find any information about car seats at all.

Best baby products, clothes, brands???

Hello, I am pregnant with my first baby girl and I had some questions. I want to know what the best brands are for clothes, strollers/car seats, lotions, diaper rash cremes, products? I just know about bugaboo and peg perego. I’m having a lot of people at my shower and would like people to buy me nice stuff rather then the cheap things I can get for myself, any ideas?

I’ve spent hours researching car seats for my 9 month old who has outgrown his infant seat. I’ve always heard that Britax is the best but really couldn’t afford their prices. I found the Evenflo and tried it out in the store. It seemed extremely comfortable and I liked the harness adjustment knob as well as the price. I’ve read great reviews on it on many sites, the only cons I’ve read seem to be it’s size and difficutly to install. I was surprised after paying to see Consumer Reports, that the Marathon ranked under the Alpha Omega! which was under the Enveflo. I’ve found a great deal online for the Marathon where I’d only be paying more than the Evenflo. I must admit I’m hesitant to buy such a big item online for fear of arriving damaged or having problems returning it should I need to. It’s so much easier to buy from a store. Any feedback from experienced Moms with the Marathon or ETADLX?

Car seat laws?

Does anyone else see parents driving around with no car seats? I saw a van full of kids from about 3 months to 6 years and not one was in a car seat!! I called 911! What the hell is wrong with people! You don’t have to buy a 0.00 Britax, just buy an effin car seat! I’m trying to talk to my congressman about stiff penalties for breaking this law. What do you think?
I honestly think that there should be a car seat registry. If you have a child that requires a car seat then you should have to register it with you state every 6 months. If you fail to regisiter an approriate seat then your liscense should be suspended until it is regisitered. It may seem like a long, repeatitive process but if it saves one child life is it not worth it? How much would that computer prgram cost with an automatic 800 number. Sounds like a step in the right direction to me!

Legal help with used car purchase?

I bought a used lincoln navigator from a used car dealer in my town. I put my truck up for collateral. I made one payment and expect my income tax in a few days and will pay the navigator off. That was the deal we made. Well first he told me there was a 3rd row seat folded down under the big fancy speakers that someone installed. Looked like it was there. Well when I moved the speakers a few weeks later there’s no seat there. I asked him about it and he said I didn’t think there was one there. Go to a junk yard. I’m like that’s the reason I bought it to fit 8 people.also one of the seatbelts won’t buckle making it un safe for one of my 2 children who sit back there in the car seats. Also the night I got it the dash board lights went out. Then a week later my taillights went out. Then my headlights went out. Then one day it wouldn’t start and when I took the key out it then started on its own. Sometime it turns off when I stop. The brake tag is expired and the tint is too dark and lights don’t work to get a new one. All the time since day one I keep going to him saying u need to fix this. He says I will then when I go back he’s out of town. Its like he’s only here 2 days a week. He had is personal mechanic look at it and the man said there was a wire shorting out that couldve caught fire and looked some more and said everything just about has been changed around and is done poorly. He also said that it shouldn’t have been sold to me and that I should give it back. So I told the dealer what his mechanic said and he got mad saying his mechanic shouldn’t have told me that and should have just checked the headlights and he didn’t know anything. So I said well I don’t want this car. He said hey y have u kept it for 2 months? I said I have repeatly told u to fix it and I asked him to put me in a different vechile. And I told him he keeps going out of town. So he said go home and come back tomorrow and ill let u borrow a vechile and get yours fixed. I said just let me use my truck and he said I can’t I have a lean on it. I originally bought the truck from him 3 years ago with no problems. So I was expecting this. What can I do? I’m not sure what all was hidden in the fine print. But I’m wondering if I can break this deal and get my truck back legally? I only had this navigator for around 60 days. Also was it illegal for him to sell me something with the seatbelt not working and expired breaktag?also without the vehicle being able to get one with the tent so dark? Is that a loophole for me? I have a 100 percent warranty for 6 months but I know since a lot of parts or aftermarket it probally wont cover it all. Also he says someone normal would have went and paid the 60 dollars to have it put on a diagnosis machine. But I’m like hey I’m paying 7200 dollars I shouldn’t have to pay 60 dollars for that. Also his mechanic told me today the man chewed him out and said he shouldn’t tell customers anything and just tell him and let him tell what he wants. The mechanic said I told him hey that man has babies and his families life is in danger with that car and he has a right to know. What can I do?please any advice? I worked to jobs for 8 yrs 12-15 hour days and finally bought something nice(supposely) and I’m getting raped.

Britax Advocate–anyone have one?

My baby girl is currently 16 lbs 8 oz and 27 inches at 9 months old, so she is still well within the height/weight requirements of her infant seat. However, she is starting to fight, cry, and struggle every time I put her in her infant seat (or lay her down in the infant tub or changing table for that matter). A few friends told me that switching to the convertible seat will help because they can sit up (which is what she wants to do). I’m researching car seats, and it seems like the big kahuna on the market right now is the Britax Advocate. Does anyone have one? If so, what do you think? I drive a Toyota Corolla–do you think it would be too big? Is it really heavy to move between cars (my husband is deployed right now so I would have to move it myself if I choose to drive the other car). The price tag is steep, but I’m not basing my decision off of that because I saved money when I was pregnant for a convertible seat some day. I just want the best possible seat. Also, are the side cushion thingys on the Advocate effected by side curtain air bags on your car? Our Scion xB has side curtain air bags

My 3 year old has been in the center rear seat of the car (in her car seat). In a few days, I am expecting my next little girl. I know that you are supposed to place the carseat in the rear center for the safety, but what do you do when you have multiple car seats to place? Do I put each by a door, move the 3 year old next to a door with the baby in the middle (or vice versa)? I want the safest placement for each child but want other opinions from experienced persons. Thanks!!!!
