infant carrier in a Trans Am?

I had someone hit my car and now I am using my brothers car, he has two trans ams and my britax infant carrier will not fit. I am willing to buy one like tomorrow, I just want to have some direction on what base would fit on the seat, my base has to be at least 80 percent touching and it is not in that car. I have a full size convertible car seat but with it backwards the seat will not latch on the front passenger side and it bobs around and hits the seat. Really need an infant carrier with short base.
You kind of have to be familiar with these cars, no middle seat, two buckets short ones at that.
Also I know how to put the car seats in, but you can’t go ahead and ignore the manufacturers warnings. So the police and the fire station and ambulance shed won’t be able to do anything, just wanted to know if someone noticed a infant carrier with a shorter base.

Anyone with the Graco Snugride Car seats….?

I know that it has gotten excellent safety ratings, but it just doesn’t seem secure to me. I seem to have it right according to the directions but it just doesn’t seem right to me. I always put the base in the middle of the backseat and it is rear facing. I then put the seat belt through the one side, under the "tongue" in the middle and then through the other side where it buckles in. I also adjusted the height on the base so that it is level. Is that really it? It just seems like there should be some support or something on the front ( or the back, rather, since it is a rear facing seat). My local fire station is holding a little 15 minute session on car seat safety but its not until the end of the month. I just want to make sure she is safe until then. Please let me know.

Are there people who install infant car seats?

Have you ever heard of having someone at a fire station install your infant car seat? My brother took his to one and they did it but he lives in a different state. Do I really need to look into having someone else install it or is it safe for my husband and i to install it? If it’s ok for us to install it, any safety advise we need to know would be helpful. Thanks

Parents – did you know car seats expire?

Wow…I had no idea. My 10 month old outgrew her infant seat, so I got my older daughter’s Britax Marathon down from the closet and drove over to the fire station for help installing it, since I couldn’t figure out how to get it installed in the rear facing position. Well they informed me that it will expire in July! It was manufactured in July 2003! I had no idea, but apparently ALL car seats expire in 6 years or less and should then be destroyed. My child’s safety is by far my biggest concern, but I don’t know how I feel about throwing away a car seat I paid almost 0 for not too long ago. It doesn’t help that it still looks brand new since it was used in my mom’s car only a handful of times.

Did you know about this? If so, did you throw away the seat or continue to use it anyway? How do you feel about it?

How do I find out if a used car seat is good?

I bought a used car seat. The date of manufacture on it is about 5 years old. Can I call or take it to the hospital or fire station and have them check it out? Will they also be able to check if there have been any recalls for it?

I want to make sure it’s still safe, of course, but how?

Thanks.
