Should my infant go to the hospital?

My fiance sat my five month old in her infant seat on our table. She wiggled out of the seat and fell off the table onto the floor. She cried for about thirty seconds and does have a bruise coming up on her forehead, but otherwise seems perfectly fine. Her eyes are still fine, she’s playing with a rattle, and she’s laughing, all like normal. Should I take her to the hospital to get checked out? What are symptoms I should watch for?

I just bought the Evenflo ‘Symphony 65′ All-in-One Car Seat because was the seat with best high settings (tall baby 8 months, 76cm), the seat has really good reviews, but a couple of reviews w/ the same problem. The seat is properly installed.
Can anybody tell me if this reduces his safety?
*when he falls sleep.
What kind of car seat did you use? (not infant seat)

I am purchasing an Evenflo infant seat from a friend, but she wants to keep the matching stroller for her toddler. I am just curious as to if I can buy any Evenflo stroller and if the infant seat will fit into the stroller or if it has to be a travel system.

This may sound like a silly question, but I JUST put together my new Baby Trend travel system (stroller, infant seat/carrier) and everything seems to work smoothly and go nicely together, but I am missing something about putting the carrier in the stroller. It fits nicely but doesn’t seem to latch in or anything. With all the straps, safety features, and warning labels on the system, it doesn’t seem this one could be missing– when you put the carrier in the stroller, the back end rests on the child’s tray– is there something that locks it in there? The carrier tips pretty easily, and I can absolutely see a bad tumble situation there. Thanks in advance!

I’ve spent hours researching car seats for my 9 month old who has outgrown his infant seat. I’ve always heard that Britax is the best but really couldn’t afford their prices. I found the Evenflo and tried it out in the store. It seemed extremely comfortable and I liked the harness adjustment knob as well as the price. I’ve read great reviews on it on many sites, the only cons I’ve read seem to be it’s size and difficutly to install. I was surprised after paying to see Consumer Reports, that the Marathon ranked under the Alpha Omega! which was under the Enveflo. I’ve found a great deal online for the Marathon where I’d only be paying more than the Evenflo. I must admit I’m hesitant to buy such a big item online for fear of arriving damaged or having problems returning it should I need to. It’s so much easier to buy from a store. Any feedback from experienced Moms with the Marathon or ETADLX?

Car seat Help, for an infant?

I have a baby boy who weights close to 20 pounds and will be 8 months old October 20. The rear facing infant seat he is currently in only goes up to 22 pounds, so it’s getting kind of small.

What type of car seat should I get him? What brand? Things to look for in the seat? Safety? Personal experience?

My daughter is only 2 months old, but I am kind of looking out for a convertible car seat instead of buying a base for our infant seat for a second car. I really, really like the Grace MyRide 65 and it has great reviews online. I am concerned that it won’t fit in my car. I have a 4-door 2009 Chevy Cobalt. Does anyone out there have this carseat in a Cobalt or similarly sized car?

I have narrowed down my car seat search between the Britax Boulevard and Decathlon. I understand that the pros of the Decathlon is the 3 position adjustable crotch strap. The pros of the Boulevard is the side impact protection, supportive wings in headrest and an easy no-thread should strap harness adjustor. I have heard that the Boulevard blocks childrens view and they don’t like it. How important is the adjustable crotch strap?? I have an 11-month old daughter who weighs 20lbs and is growing out of the infant seat. I have been researching this forever and can’t figure it out…PLEASE HELP!!!

Britax Advocate–anyone have one?

My baby girl is currently 16 lbs 8 oz and 27 inches at 9 months old, so she is still well within the height/weight requirements of her infant seat. However, she is starting to fight, cry, and struggle every time I put her in her infant seat (or lay her down in the infant tub or changing table for that matter). A few friends told me that switching to the convertible seat will help because they can sit up (which is what she wants to do). I’m researching car seats, and it seems like the big kahuna on the market right now is the Britax Advocate. Does anyone have one? If so, what do you think? I drive a Toyota Corolla–do you think it would be too big? Is it really heavy to move between cars (my husband is deployed right now so I would have to move it myself if I choose to drive the other car). The price tag is steep, but I’m not basing my decision off of that because I saved money when I was pregnant for a convertible seat some day. I just want the best possible seat. Also, are the side cushion thingys on the Advocate effected by side curtain air bags on your car? Our Scion xB has side curtain air bags

What's next after the infant seat?

Convertible?

My son is 7 months old, and about 21 pounds. He’s around 27 inches long. He is barely fitting in his infant seat now, and my husband and I are starting to look into the next step for seats. He still needs to be rear facing for another few months, so I’m guessing a good convertible is the way to go. Any recommendations?

Infant Car Seats in cars?

My husband and I are having a debt, weather it is actually safe to keep taking infant seat in and out of cars. We just had our first. And we says its safer to leave it in the car and never take it out. I said they are designed to be taken in and out. What are some other thoughts on this.

*sorry if my English is bad, it is not my first language*
We have two bases. My husband ( he is a firefighter/EMT) thinks its unsafe to keep taken it out, to put in the stroller, or carry her in.

my husband insists it’s fine, but i’m concerned..
we got our convertible car seat (a britax) so that it has no side to side movement, but it still moves front to back… mainly it can be lifted up at the head & pivots at the seatbelt toward the back of the seat…
we don’t have the latch system, it’s just held in by the seatbelt, and there’s nothing else in the car to attach it to (nothing on the floorboard like one option in the manual shows)
the manual says nothing about front to back movement…

i’m going to get it checked out, but i have to wait till our appt & i just want to know until then…

is this safe???
yeah, it can rock.
but it’s a convertible seat, not an infant seat.

(side note on not being able to leave without them checking the fit–the stupid hospital i delivered at required us to bring the seat for them to checked how the *baby* fit in it, and REFUSED to come out to help us check the fit in the car–and after taking it out to bring it up we couldn’t get it back in right!! we were there for an hour until some random lady helped us!)
yeah, i have a towel under it now (otherwise there’d be too much slack in the seatbelt due to the buckle placement & it had side to side movement) but it still rocks front to back. the seat in front of it is back all the way, but the issue is still that it can be lifted from the front edge of the seat, so the head of the car seat can be tilted toward the rear of the car…
it’s *tight* in there, it *pivots* at the seat belt…

(hard to explain i guess!)

the car seat has a tether to hold it down, but my car doesn’t have anything to attach it to… the manual treats the tether as an option…? but it’s not entirely clear…
our fire stations don’t check car seats anymore. we called them all & they don’t do it! one particular police station does it by appt only. it’s so frustrating!
without the towel, the buckle is too close to use the locking clip on the seat and has too much slack.

WITH the towel (in the "crack" of the regular seat), it raises the seat edge (also creating a better incline) so the belt has further to travel and the buckle stops short of the lockign clip–*eliminating* excess slack that allowed the car seat to move side to side.

Help! Which Car Seat is better?

I am looking for my daughter’s second car seat because at 14 months old she is finally growing out of her infant seat. I want a really good seat but can’t afford the Britax over 300. My daughter is small so I want one that I can still face backwards & then eventually turn around but I still want it to last a long time since they are soo expensive! I have been looking for a while but with all the different features its hard. I know i want her to be comfortable since she hates sitting still, & I want it to have SIP but other than that I don’t know. I have been looking at the Recaro car seats & also the Britax Marathon. If any one can give me some info on which is better or even has a different car seat that would be better but not more expensive I would appreciate it.
