I’m writing something where a child (aged three) loses both her parents and is raised by their extended family. I’m wondering how a child would react to not seeing her parents, being told that her parents aren’t coming back- though her carers are being very good with her and trying not to leave her to think about it. How does one deal with a toddler in that situation?

There is a baby bird in my yard waddling around b/c he fell out of his nest. The parent birds still feed him but I’m afraid they cannot provide him the safety he needs while he is outside the nest. I want to help him, but I am scaird if I put him back in the nest his parents will smell the human scent and abandon him. Is this true that they will abandon him? How can I help him I am scaird for his safety?

My friends spilled the works toilet cleaner on my carpet and seat cover and it ate through it. I need to know if there is a cheap way i can get it fixed quickly. Theres a bunch of little spots where it was spilt that i need fixed before my parents find out.

I found out last Tuesday that the center I work for had taken the 1-5 year olds on a field trip using a school bus…there are no restraints and they did not use the car seats left behind by the parents. My daughter attends that center as well. She was sick that day so neither of us were there, I would not allowed her nor my children in my care to go on the bus (I am the 3 year old preschool teacher) without making sure the parents were aware of this. Apparently the other teachers had to just hold the infants. The ride was over an hour long each way. Is this legal? I will be putting in my 2 weeks on Monday…there are many other issues with this center as well…very unprofessional. and shady and I want nothing to do with it.
Please if someone would tell me what is the legal age for children to be on a regular old school bus without restraints, if you have a MN state site to verify that would be great too!

They had taken them to Chucky Cheese…which I don’t think it was appropriate to take the "Twaddlers" (1-2 1/2 years old) with. The parents had the option of having their child stay behind, but I know they were under the impression they were going to be restrained properly…I am just furious this would happen!
Another thing that goes to show how grand our director is…she has a 21 month old who she allowed to go on the bus without restraints…she drove in another vehicle.

My son is 2 1/2. He is 40 pounds and almost 40 inches. Legally he fits into a booster seat instead of a 5 point harness car seat. His car seat is getting old and raggedy. Instead of buying another car seat, I was thinking of getting him a high back booster. I posted a question about it a couple days ago, and many respondents strongly urged me not to get him a booster yet because of his young age. Part of me agrees with that, but as it is now, my son also complains about the strap between his legs squishing his balls. If I loosen the trap to his comfort level, it is floppy loose. Have any of you parents dealt with this problem in your toddler sons? If so, how did you resolve it? Seriously, I’m thinking the high back booster is the way to go.

i’m going to have a lot of trouble explaining this one but here goes:

This morning I came home from a big sleepover party. I was very tired so I slept for maybe 3 or 4 hours.

I dreamed that my mom hired three african american girls, maybe 17, 13, and 9 years old, to get me to behave? Which I don’t remember misbehaving at all in the dream. The girls were very rude except for the youngest, and they told me my mom would always talk behind my back saying how much she disliked me and how she wanted to get a divorce from my dad and never see me again. (In real life, she does want to divorce my father)

Somebody had told me that the ladies had "helped" my cousin Kaiya and her mother only had to pay 136$ for it? I dont even know why that small little detail would pop up but I can easily recall it. and in reality my cousin always listens to her parents according to my mom; I remember her saying that once when comparing the two of us (something she hardly EVER does). The girls were telling me all of this in my bedroom, and then the only other part I can recall is driving in a car with somebody, I do not know who but I was the passenger seat. I think it was raining, but I dont remember. I was very very upset, and I think I said something along the lines of, "All of my peers gossip about me, now my own mother too?" and confronting my mom about it and her breaking into tears…it was really weird because in real life I know my mom loves me more than anything and I return that too…………

HELP?! this is really bothering me ):

I didn’t need to have her birth certificate when I flew within the continental US, state-to-state, but I didn’t need a passport for myself either. My family is planning a cruise, and we plan to bring our infant daughter. Do I need to obtain a passport for her, or carry any documentation for her identity, or to prove that we are her parents? She will be approximately a year old at the time of the cruise. (Just past her first birthday)

Help! I need advice on how baby car seats work. As I understand it…..first there is a travel system – infant seat up to 22 pounds that attaches right to a stroller, comes with a base, and I could buy a second base for Jim’s car; later I would buy a convertible car seat, with another second base for Jim’s car. Then there is an infant car seat, which seems just like the former, but I would need to purchase a separate stroller. Third there is a convertible car seat system, which goes to over 50 pounds, and I would need a second base. It seems that I could actually get the convertible car seat to begin with because it starts at 5 pounds (is this true?) but the disadvantage would be having to lift Avery in and out of her seat into a separate stroller even as an infant, unlike the travel system. Which systems have other parents used? Advantages and disadvantages to the system you picked? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello parents…like anything else on the market today, there are 100s of choices when choosing a baby car seat/stroller combination. There is also consumer reports. I’m asking parents’ advice on which models are best, and why? Price is not an object in this arena, because safety is first on the list, along with comfort for baby, as well as weight and ease in manuvering the car seat and stroller. Because of the variables, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I am compiling information and will type on a sheet and forward to my daughter who is expecting her first baby. Thanks for your input.

I think it should be broached with sensitivity, because it is a subject that can make parents who have allowed it to be done to feel guilt, grief and pain, but it should still be discussed. Male infant circumcision is injurious to the infant psychologically and physically, and to the mother infant bond, as well as lifelong sexuality.

My partner and I are looking for ways for children to be intrested in buckling up when they’re parents are driving. We’re also looking for car games on paper or made up that we can play with them. We’re gunna show this to kids at a elementry school and try to see if they’ll approve of it. If you’ll be kind to help, it would be much appreciated.

One of my customers has a child with severe autism. They are a wonderful and supportive family with more than one special needs child. As of late the physical abuse sustained by the parents and siblings of said child is becoming difficult for parents to handle. Mom asked about info on safety restraints for home and vehicle so as to assist in keeping other family members safe during the more difficult outbursts and to SAFELY be able to transport pt. and siblings to appointments. I have not been able to locate ANY information on such products and in fact most info i have reviewed seems to condemn such devices. Any advice from folks w/ similar situations that i might pass on?
