I have a 99 saturn SL2. the rear passenger door has no door handles so I went and found some at a local junkyard and solved that problem I thought. Well I went to install them and figured out that the rods connecting the handles to the latch are missing. This leaves me with no way to open the door from the inside or outside. Any Ideas on how to get it open with out cutting a hole in my door or whatever. thank you.

My daughter had an accident which deployed both air abgs. The damage to the car itself is minimal, and is limited to the front left corner of the car, but both bags need replaced.
Other than the bags themselves, what else do I need to check/replace to insure they’ll work correctly again? Sensors? Computer? Wires?
The car is a 2001 Saturn SC1.
Please help.

I am looking at buying a 2004 Saturn Ion with bucket seats in the back and I was wondering if it is safe to put a rear-facing infant car seat back there. The seat does not sit all the way flat and has a gap underneath it since it’s pretty much sitting on the sides of the seat. There is no middle seat in the car. Is this safe? Would it be okay to put a towel under there to level it out? I’ve heard of people doing this or using a pool noodle but is it truly safe to do so? I don’t have kids yet but my hubby and I have been TTC for 4 years so eventually we know we will have to deal with this issue. If it’s not very safe then we won’t get the car but we both really like it so…
Thanks, Stephen. Actaully we are having them addressed and are on fertility medications and it does NOT always cost ,000 for them. We’re paying less than ,500 as a matter of fact so before you start posting about things you don’t know about, maybe you should do a little research. And I went back to look at the car yesterday afternoon and took my nephew’s car seat with me and it fit perfectly and did not have any gaps whatsoever. I guess I overestimated how large the car seat base was and underestimated how far the sides of the seat itself were. We’re getting the acr today : )
I meant *car*

Wow, not very smart answers. You think I would have asked if there was information readily available in either of those places? DUH!
Thank you for those of you with answers that actually help. I guess the best thing for us to do then is to borrow my sisters car seat and take it to the police department and see what they think about the fit. Thanks!
Well, hubby and I have been TTC for 4 years and we’re on fertility medications and need a new car so we don’t want to spend ,000 on a car that won’t work out if we have kids (I don’t plan on getting a new car for another 5 – 10 years after this one unless it’s needed). I don’t think it’s thinking too far ahead, it’s just being smart, especially since we definitely plan on having kids ASAP.

I have a 2001 Saturn Sc1. The car has been in an accident and both airbags have been deployed. I bought new ones from junkyards, but someone mentioned something about clocksprings. What are they and how do I know if I need new ones?

i have an ion i want to get rid of asap before it gets into deeper problems. if you google ions, you will see that the seats stain very easily, you have to pray that it will start when you need it to, and it may shut off on you while you are driving. saturn wont do a recall. i am sick of this. you pay thousands to have it looked at for nothing.
i want to maybe lease or buy. i do not want google responses. i want people with personal experiences give me tips.

There is a recall notice for my 1999 Saturn. Its something with the seat belt.
I bought my car from an individual, and my insurance co has posted a notice telling me that there is a recall. Can I take it anywhere or just a Saturn dealership, and do I have to pay for it? What kind of paperwork would I need to provide?

Having trouble with my 2008 saturn vue. LATCH system is on the sides only so the seat is safest on the sides. I have a graco safeseat travel system now and I have to pull the front passenger seat all the way up to fit the infant seat in the back. It is not comfortable to have someone ride in the front passenger when the seat in in the back. I am looking for the smallest available. Please let me know if you have had this problem and what seat you ended up with.

We just bought a Britax Decathalon last weekend. I like the car seat, but the thing tilts forward way too much. My poor son looks so uncomfortable. We are using the latch system in our car (We have a new Saturn Vue) and it appears that the latch straps are so short (they barely reach to our latch system in our car) that the base of it is pulled so tight against the back of the seat of the car that it angles forward. He is uncomfortable and doesn’t like it. My mom has a Graco in her car and he’s happy as a cat in that one, but the Britax one, he doesn’t like it. He’s angled forward way too much! Has anyone had this problem? Is there any way to fix it? We have the adjustable straps as long as they will go. Help!

I’ve read all the questions already asked about smaller cars, and over 100 reviews on babiesrus.com, and that site where you’re supposed to be able to find the best car seats for certain cars didn’t have an Astra as a choice. Not that my car is super tiny, but I’ve been looking at the Britax Marathon and the Roundabout and worried that the Marathon may be too large. All these other cars I’ve read about I don’t know how big their back seats are so I can’t really compare. I’m only 5 foot 1 so I keep my seat way up and he’ll go behind me, especially since my passenger(who is usually his dad who’s a lot taller than me) needs the seat almost all the way back. They are expensive and I know the differences dimensions wise, but they are highly rated to be safe and the Cowmooflauge print is just SO cute. Basically, if you have a Saturn Astra or a car close to its size, is the Marathon difficult to fit comfortably or how did the Roundabout go? Also from real experience how long can the baby sit in it before they outgrow it?
As noted somewhere in there, I’ve read over 100 reviews on just one website and found out they are safe, I’ve seen pictures of babies of all different sizes to see how comfortably they fit, I made sure they are well padded because I don’t want him to be uncomfortable, and found out that it can withstand wrecks and the most babies didn’t even wake up. It is an extremely safe carseat, I need to know if it will fit though and Babies R Us, or target doesn’t have the floor model so I can’t test it out.
Ha, I live in a very small town with a bunch of idiotic guys at both those places. Apparently my family has both the roundabout and the marathon so I’m going to test them out in a couple of days and sees which fits better.

I have a 2005 Saturn Ion with cloth seats. Unfortunately, my life has been very hectic and unorganized as of late, and my car has turned to s…t. I baught it new and I have no excuse to have stained seats. Anyone know a good shampoo to get coffee and dirt stains out of the seats and floors aside from steam cleaning?
Thanks!

My wife and I are expecting twins and already have a 9 year old and have a Nissan Altima and a Toyota Tacoma. We need to get rid of the Tacoma (5 people aren’t going to fit) and get a roomier vehicle that can also tow a boat yet hopefully get decent MPG (and that won’t cost an arm and leg). Things we’re considering: Saturn Vue (6cylinder), Toyota RAV4 (newer with 6 cylinder and tow package), Toyota Highlander (6 cylinder), Nissan Xterra (weak on mpg, but cheap and can tow), and possible a Ford Escape or Jeep Liberty. We’re shooting for "gently used", though there’s not much price difference with the Toyotas (new or gently used). We’d like some suggestions on what vehicle(s) we should look at.
Thanks!
