Suggestions for a convertible car seat?

I need a car seat for a six month girl who is out growing her infant car seat. I need a seat that is safe and can fit rear facing in the back a PT Cruiser. I’m looking at the Alpha Omega Elite and the Evenflo Triumph Advance. Britax or Sunshine is not an option because of the price so please don’t suggest it or make me feel guilty for not buying it. Does any one know of features I need to look for or have a suggestion for or against any seats out there? I’m totally confused. Thanks in advance for you help!
I’ve read that the Alpha doesn’t recline in rear facing mode with out taking up a lot of space and the Evenflo has an odd buckle shape that digs into babies legs. Are these things true?

What to do about a broken internal hood latch?

I recently was in a car accident that bashed up my internal hood latch (and hood) pretty badly. I was able to bend the hood back into shape, and the external hood latch works, but I can’t get the internal latch to catch. I don’t have a lot of money, so I’d really rather not take it to a body shop. Just wondering what’s the next step I can take – can I purchase a new latching system somewhere (and hood if necessary) and install that? Or chain it down? My car is a 2000 chevy lumina, if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Carfax checks out, car looks good in and out. I have not spoken to anyone at the lot but have done Carfax online and saw the vehicle during hours the lot was closed. Basically, for those who won’t do their homework or negotiate I guess, the dealer advertises the vehicle in print at just about ,000 over the KBB "excellent" condition price and on their website, they advertise it at about ,600 over the KBB "excellent" condition price.

This is only my 2nd time shopping for a car and I don’t recall ever seeing any dealer do this type of price gouging. I’ve set my max at ,999 because the vehicle is at 110,000 miles and has had some interior reconditioning to remove dirt on the carpet and make the leather seats look better. I have seen a before photo of the car on the dealer’s website where the seats really looked much worse but now the leather is in very good condition and the carpets are clean when I’ve gone to see the car in person during the day. There is still some wear on the plastic gear shift/knob but not much on the steering wheel.

Would you just take the gross overpricing as a sign of other negatives to come and look elsewhere or would you try to negotiate and get your mechanic to look it over more closely? I am a woman and am prepared to walk away if need be but would just like to get others’ opinions about this before choosing to try for the car or go elsewhere. It is a 2001 C240 Benz.
The car is not in excellent shape, I was making sure to highlight that and the price gouging issue without specifically saying it. I did say that it was dirty and worn looking when it was first on the lot and spoke about the mileage. This is a cash sale and I’m anxious because I know all the used car dirtbags (even at "reputable" dealers) see a woman and think they’re shooting fish in a barrel. One even went as far as to physically separate me and my beau so he could BS me alone. As soon as another salesguy started a conversation with my beau, I walked and so did beau with a big smile. That was so rude and conniving. I wish my father was alive because he could help me out immensely as he completely rebuilt a 1975 Ford truck BY HIMSELF and knew what to look for without going through the expense and time of going to the lot to take a car to a mechanic.

All the tricks is WHY I go only during times they are closed and it’s still bright sunshine out. I don’t want to hassle now with them un
I don’t want to hassle now with them until I’ve done my homework and educated myself. I only go to a lot when it’s sunny out and the lot is CLOSED. When I’m ready to deal and no matter what type of car it is, I’ll be sure to get it inspected by a mechanic.

Can I go running with a double stroller?

I’m too cheap to buy a jogging stroller. I can’t run fast anyways, I’m WAY out of shape. Will I be able to manage running with a double stroller though, or even lightly jogging?

1. oxygen is diatomic, and, under similar conditions, its volume is twice that of monatomic helium? true/false
2. true or false. air bags are used as safety devices in cars b/c air cannot be compressed.
MATCH EACH ONE.
word bank: (gas property)
compressibility…has mass…fills container…exerts pressure
(examples)
3. A bicycle tire inflates when you pump air into a valve on one side.
4. a car is supported on a "cushion of air."
5. an air mattress springs back to its original shape after being pressed
6. a balloon filled with air weighs more than an empty ballon.

7. use your knowledge of gas properties to explain why the molecular size of the individual gas particles has no effect on the total volume of the gas.

Rate my car's interior?

I’m planning on changing up my interior of my Acura.
1. Upholster all seats with this black anti static 100% polyester fabric and fill the inside of the backseat bucket seats with either light blue satin or velvet fabric.
**Note: I’m not completely sure what kind of material to use, but I know that I want it black, so if you know what fabric would be best, please don’t hesitate to tell me**
2. For the steering wheel cover, I was thinking of using the same light blue fabric.
3. I’m going to switch out the regular interior light bulbs for blue tinted ones.
4. I’m going to glue sequins *or something else decorative* in the shape of a S and a C for my initials
5. I’m going to hot glue some type of beaded blue fringe to the back window

What do you think?
Feel free to add any suggestions you think will improve the interior.

I’m adding the sequins to the far back corners of my car, near the back seats, but on the walls. I may upholster the front seats with the same blue fabric the same way I did for the back seats. I’m still undecided.

yesterday me and my mil went to babies r us to get a car seat we liked on their site. so sad when i felt the seat and realized it was rock hard. like metal. they are now making them with this *winged shape* by the head area and it feel like its just pretty material covering rock hard metal!! so I felt the area the baby lays in with her bak and that was rock hard too.!! i would not put a new born in something soo hard. Id think thats be more dangerous then anything. we need a cute girly style *soft* infant car seat but the only other options are online and we cant *feel them n checked them out*. also would like it more light weight easier to carry. any ideas? what do you guys use??? we need to keep it under 9.00

Question about baby carriers…..?

Do you prefer the ones with the handles that are just straight….or do you like the ones that have the little Z shape in the middle for your hand…that looks to me like it would be easier to carry them…but are there any downsides to those?

I just bought a Britax Marathon, and i’m confused on how to use the versa-tether. I do not have LATCH in my car, but i was told that the versa-tether can be used either way. I am installing it rear facing, with the vehicle seat belt and the tether. What do i loop the connector strap onto? I want to attach it to the groud, not the v shape above the car seat. Is anyone familiar with how to do this? Please help me! :)
capeko71 – wow thank you so much, you knew exactly what i was talking about! great information!

What are some great small shower gift ideas?

I’m filling a basket with things that I have discovered to be ‘the best’ since having my daughter 5 months ago. So far I’m putting in:

Avent pacifiers (daughter likes the shape best)
Dollarama bibs and sunglasses( each and they are just as good as the more expensive kinds!)
Secrets of the Baby Whisperer book (saved me when we were having sleep problems)
Jolly Jumper crib wedge
Jolly Jumper car seat strap covers

Can anyone suggest anything else?

and will the carriers effect the baby’s leg shape?
