My daughter is 38 lbs & 3 1/2 years old (big for her age). She is in a Britax Marathon right now, and her shoulders are right at the top strap, really close to going over. We have a Britax Parkway high-back booster ready for her when she grows out of the Marathon. She seems to fit in it really well (we haven’t tried it in the car, just had her sit in it) but I don’t know if it’s best to keep her in the car seat or the booster. I am afraid she is too big for the car seat, but am nervous about moving her to the booster. What is safest? I worry the car seat will not be strong enough to hold her in an accident (we bought it new in 2004). I’m going to talk with a fireman before switching but want to know what you all think. I bought a baby carrier, with a strap for one side shoulder only, rather than a ‘backpack’ type, which is supported by both shoulders..

I did this without noticing. Do you think the one strap type is better or with two straps.

I am traveling to Asian countries with my 2yr. I want to buy a toddler leash to keep him safe from busy areas like airports, malls, etc.

Can any one help me to find a best toddler shoulder leash with following requirements?

I am looking for leash with NO bag pack so he can remain wearing while he is seating in the seats like car and airplane and with NO Velcro stripes, where he can remove the shoulders Velcro strips by himself. I prefer to buy with locking BUCKLES with plastics only and of course with no recall.

I have this new seat for my 6 month old and we going to start using it. I love that it has the full body pad and it says you can use that for when the baby is using the first two harness slots.

My question is. DO you really have to use the full body pad at all? Bc my son gets insanely hot/sweaty already and with that in there..he would roast. Just as long as the straps still go at or below the shoulders and the chest clip is armpit level? Bc I see no where in the instructions that it says YOU HAVE to use it. Would this still be safe? If he was in there for long trips of course I would put it back. But he usually isn’t in there much more than few minutes.

Is it a normal thing for toddler to dig in there diapers? I mean to scratch of course but my son always finds it amusing to dig when he poops. I try and always change him when I noticed he’s went but I was outside for few minutes and came back in and yells "ahh mama! my fingers..my fingers ewww!" It ends up in 30 min of cleaning of his chair,toys and himself lol. Btw he will be 2 on the 31st if that matters

The ones you hook to your shoulders

My daughter is 4 1/2 months old. She is very tall (24 1/2 inches at her 3 month appointment) and is too long for her infant car seat. The manual says that the shoulder straps have to be above or level with her shoulders. They are at the highest they can go and are below her shoulders. She is still too little for a forward facing seat. I need to know what seat will work for a small child, but will last for a long time and has good safety standards.

We have a jeep cherokee. -Cannot, repeat, cannot buy a new car right now. We’re dealing with layoffs and can barely get by as it is. A new booster law is going into effect in one month in our state requiring us to fit 2 boosters and an infant seat in the back of a jeep cherokee, (or a geo prizm). How the heck are we going to do this? We also can’t spend 0 plus dollars for new "radian" car seats. Do the "ride-safer-vests" do a good job? Would they even be legal and who would I ask that? Right now my oldest is using a harness system in the middle -it tethers to the back of the jeep and goes over his shoulders. Any ideas? I’m not comfortable squishing them in there so much that they are not positioned right.

I used a Baby Bjorn with my son and it hurt my shoulders so much that I could only wear him for short amounts of time. I like the look of the peanut shell slings to wear newborns in. Are there any less expensive brands? Suggestions? I really want to wear our next baby more often. Thank you!

I was told by a cop tonight (bad headlight is what he said), that if my child is under the age of 4, he must have a chest harness. Well my 3 year old is very tall and meets all the height and weight requirements of just a plain booster seat. I have looked everywhere online and can’t find anywhere that says he has to have a chest harness because of his age. He doesn’t really fit in the ones with a chest harness (no he’s not fat, the shoulders started to pinch him when i took him out – like i said TALL). Please help. I don’t want any OPINIONS. I need someone who knows what the law actually is and a reference would be perfect!
I know what THIS cop said. I asked a sheriff’s officer before i even put him in the seat. He said height and weight. That’s why I’m confused.

I have 2 different styles of carriers. One is a "hug-a-a-bub" style one is more similar to a Bjorn. Both are expensive, reputable brands that have good reviews. However, I’ve had problems since my youngest son was an infant with the carriers. I just seem to suck at using them. Now he is 14 months old and close to 10kg (so still quite small) and carrying him is agony. I don’t drive yet and when I’m in town I’m in there for up to 10 hours, waiting for my partner to finish work and pick us up. I have a stroller but if both of my boys (eldest is almost 4) fall asleep, I have to put my eldest in the stroller and carry the youngest. Last time I did this, I was ready to keel over. The pain in my shoulders and neck was excruciating. I’m desperate enough to buy another pram but with a toddler seat however this will be a large expense for a product that will only be used or a relatively short amount of time. Any tips on how to use carriers with a toddler. Note, the ones I have can’t be used on the back. Is it worth it getting an Ergo? I don’t think I’d be able to use that as a back carrier either (it looks too difficult and challenging). I’m of average height but have a slight build. 163cm (5"4) and about 45kg (98lbs). My partner hasn’t had any problems using the carriers so maybe it’s just me. Are these carriers not suitable for thin people?
To clarify:
I’m in town for 10 hours. Not carrying my child for 10 hours. He’s in the carrier when/if my eldest falls asleep. 2 hours max.
I’m naturally slim and I have good upper body strength. Good muscle tone. Can easily carry my child in my arms for hours without issue. Only have probs in the carrier. I have my son sitting with his head just above my shoulders. I’m obviously not using the carrier correctly though. Reason I mentioned my build was because I was wondering if the carriers were not suitable for those with narrow shoulders etc. I have the build of an average 12 year old.

"Now Rae why won’t you answer any of my questions?" i shrieked and lunged at him spilling everything off his wooden desk. Every picture and album of his perfect family landed ten feet away in his large expensive office. I had him by the throat with both hands, and my knee pushed into his groin. "damn it! what did i just say? Do not call me Rae!" I put more pressure on his neck until he finally put his hands up. He would listen now. I slouched back off him and walked over to my seat. He loosened his ugly orange tie and coughed once, "I see…" he wrote down some notes in his leather bound notebook. "God i hate you, you know that right? I have had over seventeen different physiologists and you are by far the biggest dick out of all of them." he winced at my evaluation and then smiled suddenly like a dog that was given a bone. "Am i? well you wont have to worry about that any longer." He said this like the scum i knew he was. "You just want me gone so you don’t have to admit that you aren’t as good as you say you are." He coughed once then yelled for the security guards. I grabbed my papers from his desk and walked outside, slamming the door so hard it left cracks in its frame. The two men grabbed my tightly and then struggled to put the straight jacket on. When they were finally done, the big one with the crooked nose went to the van to get my harness ready, and the small one with all the burns on his hand gently walked me over to the front desk. Burn guy, who took my papers in the process of putting the straight jacket on, handed the receptionist my file. i rolled my shoulders a little and everyone froze. The receptionists plastic face was a mask of terror, she looked like i had just eaten a cat. "Could you stop looking at me that way?" she didn’t move even a little. Part of me was wondering if that botox injection stuff made your face like wax, one expression before you harden. Another part however- the most expressive thought was angry because she wouldn’t move. "Knock it off! I stretched. Sue me!" I kicked my legs out to her face and missed, my black curls flopping in front of my green eyes. Burn guy took me to the van. Crooked nose strapped me in and locked the door. I rested my head on the soft walls, closed my eyes and sighed. I remember when my life wasn’t like this. I remember when I would come home from school and my mom, jet black hair just like mine, billowing behind her, would swoop down, look me over eye to eye, and say, "little Rae, tell me; how was your day?" I use to laugh so hard at that, now I just cry. She would smile at me and tell me "you are the goodness in the world and all that is cute and I shall give you a kiss miss!" she would kiss the top of my head and laugh, sparkles of sound so beautiful, a sob broke out from the memory. I look like her now, five feet four inches, black curly hair down to my elbows, my cream skin was hers, my green eyes were hers. Nothing about me would give away that i had a father, accept my powers, but even then mom had them to and she was ten times stronger that him. I use to tell my mom that dad was a jerk and always her response was, "well everybody has to be some body right?" she could find the good in anyone- even me. Finally the van stopped and burn guy opened the doors. "Looks like you’ve been crying." he pointed out the obvious but didn’t push for answers. I like him. "well- yeah." was what I said and then I was headed to a small cottage with hideous green- yellow flowers everywhere. It looked like something out of snow white. I hated it already….

just wondering my sons only 9 months n about 18 pounds…but im starting to think about the bigger car seats and all of the brands r confusing me…some say at 20 pounds u can rear face them some say 30…when can u actually put them in the bigger car seats??? n if i got 1 now bc his shoulders dont fit i have to keep it rear till hes 20 lbs or 1 year? please help lol thanks…
