Car Seat??

We had our daughter in a Graco SafeSeat Infant Car Seat. My husband dropped the car seat with our daughter in it. Thank goodness our daughter was not hurt, she didn’t even wake up. The car seat cracked, so we are looking for a new car seat. Is she to small to move to a convertible toddler seat? She is 6 months old and 18lb, and probably around 27in long.
If so can you recommend a good toddler car seat?

Im in search of a toddler seat and want a good one but can not afford much. Does anyone have any suggestions besides ebay or yahoo shopping?

Baby #2 will be here a couple of months before #1 turns 3 years old. She already hates sitting in her buggy, but since she still runs away right now (just turned 2), sometimes she has to ride in it anyways. I will also be doing this ON MY OWN for about a year, so grocery shopping, errands, bank runs, etc all must be done with children in-tow.
I do plan on using a Graco carseat to start off for the baby, but the double stroller dilemma is practically keeping me up at night!

Please any moms WITH KIDS in similar age brackets give me your experience with the following:

Any double stroller you’ve used, brand, length of time it was used, and how the experience went.

Sit and Stand strollers.

A single stroller with a jump seat.

A single stroller and making the oldest walk, or using a peanut shell or other carrier for the baby to start and allowing the oldest to ride.

We tried the Graco Quattro Duo, and she acted just the same in that as she does in her Quattro single, which needs to be replaced anyways. She didn’t care for the sit-n-stand at all. Could this change? Help! lol

Fairy dust, Im sorry who is walking who? My child is not a dog. And if I wanted parenting advice I would have asked for it. I asked for stroller advice. Thanks.
Some strollers Im looking at:
Bumbleride Queen B with toddler jump seat
Graco Quattro Duo
Phil and Teds with jump seat
Baby Jogger with jump seat
Valco with toddler seat

I haven’t found any traditional double strollers, aside from side-by-side joggers and the Graco Quattro Duo that are tall enough for me (36" inseam) and live up to my standards of needing to be really tough and with tons of features.

We are wanting to buy a spare seat for my 4 year old daughter for my husbands car. She rarely rides in his car since we usually always use our SUV when we have the kids but she does on occasion and it’s such a hassle to move it back and forth. I don’t want to spend a ton of money for another nice 3-in-1 seat since she’ll barely use it, but still want her to be safe. My question is which one do you think is safer: a cheaper toddler seat with a 5 point harness or a nicer booster (each would be under 0)?
I don’t want to sound like I’m skimping on my child’s safety- she currently uses a Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 (still using the 5 point harness on that) on a regular basis in my vehicle. She meets the age/height/weight requirements for the seats, as well as the law, but just want her to be as safe as possible. I know generally a 5 point harness is safer, but even if I get a cheaper one? Will it still be as safe??
Thanks :-)

He is 18.8 lbs and 28 inches. Went to look at carseats cause we knew he would outgrow it soon and ended up coming home empty handed, unhappy with the selection at babies-r-us, only to find out his infant seat only goes up to 26" (not 29" like others). Need advice. I would like to have one of the ones that turn sideways allowing you to put the child in easier, but the Zeus by Combi is only rear facing up to 22 lbs, not sure if that will accomidate him long enough. Have also looked at the Orbit toddler seat that has the turn feature. Don’t want to spend too much!

i have a toddler car seat and a infant car seat for a girl. can i switch the covers so the boy toddler cover is on the infant seat and the girl cover is on the toddler seat?

Carrying toddlers in "baby carriers"?

I have 2 different styles of carriers. One is a "hug-a-a-bub" style one is more similar to a Bjorn. Both are expensive, reputable brands that have good reviews. However, I’ve had problems since my youngest son was an infant with the carriers. I just seem to suck at using them. Now he is 14 months old and close to 10kg (so still quite small) and carrying him is agony. I don’t drive yet and when I’m in town I’m in there for up to 10 hours, waiting for my partner to finish work and pick us up. I have a stroller but if both of my boys (eldest is almost 4) fall asleep, I have to put my eldest in the stroller and carry the youngest. Last time I did this, I was ready to keel over. The pain in my shoulders and neck was excruciating. I’m desperate enough to buy another pram but with a toddler seat however this will be a large expense for a product that will only be used or a relatively short amount of time. Any tips on how to use carriers with a toddler. Note, the ones I have can’t be used on the back. Is it worth it getting an Ergo? I don’t think I’d be able to use that as a back carrier either (it looks too difficult and challenging). I’m of average height but have a slight build. 163cm (5"4) and about 45kg (98lbs). My partner hasn’t had any problems using the carriers so maybe it’s just me. Are these carriers not suitable for thin people?
To clarify:
I’m in town for 10 hours. Not carrying my child for 10 hours. He’s in the carrier when/if my eldest falls asleep. 2 hours max.
I’m naturally slim and I have good upper body strength. Good muscle tone. Can easily carry my child in my arms for hours without issue. Only have probs in the carrier. I have my son sitting with his head just above my shoulders. I’m obviously not using the carrier correctly though. Reason I mentioned my build was because I was wondering if the carriers were not suitable for those with narrow shoulders etc. I have the build of an average 12 year old.

Best Car Seat?

My son is three months old and weighs 17 lbs. His current car seat has a limit of 22 lbs. I am trying to find a good car seat for when he reaches the 22 lb mark.(He seems to be gaining about 1lb a week!)

Should he be in a forward facing or rear facing? Should it be a convertable seat or a toddler seat? I am totally lost on this one.

Thanks!

Which Car Seat???

I am going tomarrow to buy a convertible car seat. Please give me your opinions or experience. I am trying to decide between a few. The Britax Roundabout and The Britax Diplomat. Or The Graco ComfortSport. I have a VERY small car, the infant seat is a very tight fit right now. Even with the infant seat, I have to push the seats way up. My son will be rear facing for awhile yet, hes 8 months, but plan to keep him rear facing until I can. So which do you recommend??? Roundabout, Diplomat, or Comfortsport??? Whats the difference between the Roundabout and the Diplomat?? Are the pads removeable on the Diplomat?? Which would you recommend, considering my small car, rear facing, safety and comfort??? Thanks so much!!!
The Snugride is for infants, I need a convertable seat, Infant-Toddler Seat.

Thank You Though!!!
The Roundabout and Diplomat are supposed to be compact, right?? To fit into smaller cars?? Thats why I was considering those 2, instead of the Marathon or Decathalon.

Does anyone know where I can buy a car seat covers?

I was looking for a Graco toddler seat cover…. Is there anyone who knows where i can purchase a custome one? I checked ebay but i cant seem to find what im want… im looking for a superhero one.. thank you!

What Stroller(s) Do You Have?

We have so many strollers, but we are donating them to the local resale shop this week. The strollers from my 3 oldest are long gone. We had 2 regular strollers for my son (now 4) and 2 umbrella strollers. We adopted Cami when they were both almost 3. We then got another umbrella stroller (gift). We bought 2 double umbrella strollers. Now they are 4 and we have 4 month old triplets. Now we have 2 triple strollers. 1 4-person stroller. 2 double strollers. 1 single stroller with a seat for a older child. (just like a little platform thing) It’s nuts! We are getting rid of all the single umbrella strollers except 1, all the double umbrella strollers, the 2 regular strollers from my son, the 4 person stroller (not really needed), one of the double strollers.

We will now have 1 double stroller with a toddler ‘seat’, 2 triple strollers with a toddler ‘seat’, and 1 single stroller with a toddler ‘seat’. Still kind of a lot, but needed. We have peg perego and Graco mostly, I believe.

Pookie- Sorry, I was trying to give you a thumbs up, but I gave you a thumb down on accident. Sorry!
One of the triple strollers we have is…

Then we added the toddler seat thing.

Three carseats in the back of my 2006 Ford Focas

About a year ago I bought my 2006 ford focus. I am a nanny and just since I bought my car I have started using my car for transportation (to school, to the park….) with the kids. I really want a mimivan but at this point there is no way I can afford to get one. I currently am using a forward facing, five point harness seat for a 3 almost 4 year old and a backless booster for a 6 almost 7 year old in the backseat of my 2006 ford focus. Is there any way I can SAFELY fit another infant / toddler seat in? Is there any certain carseats that will better fit then others? Also my passanger air bag is automaticly turned off when a FORWARD FACING seat is installed in the front seat. I don’t really want to do that but whould that be a safer option? By the way, I do have the parents permission to be using my car.

How many car seats do I need?

I know we need an infant one and then I will need the next size up correct? Would that be considered a toddler seat? Then after that they go into a booster seat? I am so confused.
What is nice about the infant carriers is that they can be taken out of the car and put right on the stroller without waking the baby up by having to life them out of the car seat.

Rear Facing Double Stroller Suggestions?

I am wondering which is the best double stroller out there.

First off I want to be able to see my children.
After that anything goes.
I currently have a Stokke Xplory for my daughter (8 months) and love how she is next to me and can interact with me when we are out. My husband and I went testing double strollers this past weekend and I found nothing I really liked.

I first was thinking the Queen B Bumbleride with toddler seat but the steering was horrible

Next I tried the Peg Perego Duette with steering wheel Wow what a bus!

Next the Contour by Kolcraft seemed very heavy and still seemed pretty long.

I saw on the internet the Stroll-air Spider Duo looked interesting but can’t find it anywhere to test it.

Does anybody have any of these strollers or have any other suggestions?
Thanks :)
