There’s buzz about this all over the internet. On one site someone said they contacted their local TV station consumer affairs department and they’re going to send someone out to tape her for a piece on it. A few people are saying they got shipping confirmation so it would seem that those order (and yours) have been completed and shipped. As for the canceled orders, it seems that the Target management will be discussing the issue in a meeting and come up with a definitive answer within 48 hours about whether they will honor the price or not.
From what I’ve been reading in the past couple of hours orders HAVE been canceled and Target’s management is having a "meeting" about what to do from here. Apparently they are either going to honor the typoed price or give some sort of compensation for any inconvenience.
"I just called Target to find out what was going on and the lady I talked to said…
The managment is getting together to discuss what to do about this issue. As of now they have cancelled everyones order who ordered one. They will decide in 24-48 hours at the most if they will go ahead and still offer the car seat at the price that was posted or compensate everyone for the inconvience.
She said either way whatever they decide I will get an email to know what is going on. I also asked if she has heard at all which way they were leaning and she said no. Soooo we will all have to wait and see and cross our fingers. Oh and when I called she said they have been getting NUMEROUS call regarding this issue so hopefully all the calls will help influence there desicion!!! Hope this helps everyone!"
I understand they’d be out TONS of money but there would also be tons of ticked off people! Why not allow a limit(1 or two/household) on how many car seats can be purchased at this price if you’ve already placed an order? Also this is going to give them a lot of bad publicity right around the holidays!
Why don’t you try contacting the site administrator?
All the orders are being cancelled. They’re saying there was a pricing mistake.
I posted a question earlier on how can we fight this.
I ordered them to use for the babies I provide respite for in a foster home, my order WAS Cancelled, so was the foster moms.
We are VERY UPSET about it!!!!!!!!
The foster mom was contacted by Target and was told that they had over 20,000 hits on the car seat and they couldn’t afford that loss.
I Hope they change their minds and let me buy them, I have a receipt from them from when they charged my credit card.
i got ordered the carseat too and got the confirmation and then the cancellation email so I assume all orders were cancelled
I think Target should take the loss and honour all those that ordered. Here in MB, the store has to give you the posted price even if it’s a typo.
Due to an unexpected error, the following item(s) you have ordered
were incorrectly priced at the time of your order.
Britax Marathon Convertible Car Seat – Granite

I ordered around 8pm Sunday eve and got my confirmation. Then Monday I got the order cancellation e-mail, It said the product was a pricing mistake. Oh Well, seemed too good to be true.
Some orders have been canceled. If yours say it won’t be shipped for about a month, then it will be canceled. The only ones that aren’t canceled are the ones that have already billed and on their way to be shipped. So, the earlier you ordered the more likely you will actually get a car seat. However, Target seems to be avoiding this. They have a HUGE mess on their hands…but luckily (for them) they have a loop hole that protects them. It says that they have a price checking procedure before shipping and if they catch it there, than they can cancel your order.
I am totally bummed out bc i ordered 2 of these, and no words can describe how upset I am w/ target’s customer service re: this issue. I have sent a letter, emailed customer service as well as the CEO of target. It is false advertisement bc it was posted all over the internet w/ this price and even amazon.com. Please email the CEO of target if you purchased this, and hopefully something will get done about it and they will grant us the mispriced amount.

I just emailed the link posted by another "Target customer". I hope they are actually reading those and taking the phone calls. I liked the idea of one per family that originally ordered, I added that in my email. I also suggested that there should be some resolution for the disappointed families, or they may have a lot of disgruntled customers shopping elsewhere this upcoming holiday.
I am furious with them. I order 2 on Sunday night, received a confirmation on Monday and then this morning (Tuesday) they sent me the error email. I’ve called customer service and also the headquarters. On the headquarters automated service (at the beginning) they said to email them if I had questions about the Britax car seat at guest.relations@target.com.
Please do this if you have time.
The more of us that stand up to them – the better. It’s not about "getting the deal" anymore. It’s about companies taking responsibility for their mistakes. If they don’t honor the price, I will be heading to Walmart from now on! That’s for sure!
Get over it all you cheapskates. Target clearly made a big mistake and it probably would have honored a "normal" amount of orders, as the initial writer indicated, but it got an avalanche of orders because the price was plastered all over the web. I don’t blame target one bit. All of you expect Target to take a loss? Get real. Further, do you really think the manufacturer really has an extra 20,000 cars seats to send to target on a moments notice? How many of those 20,000 buyers only intended to sell it on ebay or craig’s list for their own profit? I appreciate a great deal just like anyone else. So I say hooray to those early shoppers who found this deal on their own and got a great price. Good for you. To the rest who read about the price on some bargain hunters blog, I say too bad.
i think this is somewhat of an acute reflection of the desperate nature this economy has put most of us in. we want to get ahead no matter what the cost to others and want something for nothing or super cheap (even if we know it’s too good to be true and most likely a mistake). Think about this next time you make a mistake.
I am also one of the people who ordered this car seat. I ordered mine around 3pm on Sunday and received a confirmation email minutes after- showing how much my card was charged and my ship date. On Tuesday I received an email explaining it. I personally think we need to stand together on this. As for the Jerk OFF below who called everyone a cheapskate and to get over it- You know what, some people can’t afford to pay 249.00 to have the safest car seat on the market- It’s not about being cheap- it’s about a hard economy right now. I personally can and did afford a Britax at normal cost- but I have friends who can’t and there kid is in a hand me down seat, or a cheap seat- so for Christmas I bought them a seat. I also bought a seat to donate to my local womens shelter. SO FYI- not everyone is about reselling them for personal gain, and people like you need to step off and find another post to voice your unwanted/uneducated opinion.
As for those who have ordered them/ and have been canceled- I say call Target, write them, and then write the BBB, rip off reports and any other way to get our voices heard. Also Target just had a lawsuit regarding not honoring posted prices Oct 22, 2008- they paid 1.7 million- check the site below.
I ordered a Cowmooflage ($59.99) one from Target through Amazon and mine is being delivered today. I don’t know if it’s because it was through amazon or not – I had gone to Target to order a second one in Granite ($42.99) a few minutes later and that order got canceled on Monday. I honestly thought they were discontinuing colors especially since there were 2 seats on sale and that’s why they were so cheap. I paid shipping on the first seat and though about canceling my order to go order from Target where they had free shipping – glad I didn’t now!
Edit: Just to let everyone know, I did get my car seat today!
The thing I find aggravating about this whole situation is the lack of consistency from Target. Some people are having the carseats shipped to them (apparently the checking of prices that is part of their "normal" procedures wasn’t initially caught/done), some have had orders cancelled but offered online credit from $10-50 for the inconvenience and others just had the orders cancelled and offered nothing. Okay, there was a mistake and it stinks, but what smells the worst about this whole debacle is Target’s handling of it.
