In Australia we can turn out babies around as long as they are 9kg (19lb) And have good head control. As long as your baby is at that stage i think it is fine to turn her around.
Most carseats tell you it should be rear facing til year 1. Its safer for the baby.
Because of that, I turned my daughter around. She was getting too tall to fit that way, it was actually making her upset, and she would cry every time we were in the car. It may be safe to keep the facing backwards.. but if it’s totally uncomfortable, I would turn her around.
The answer might depend on exactly where you’re located at, since different countries/states put different restrictions on this.
The best general rule of thumb is 20 pounds AND 1 year old.
My son was almost 15 months old before I turned him around, because he hadn’t met the weight restrictions yet. He’s 3 now, and still only weighs 30 pounds.
