What do you think when you see people pushing their dogs in strollers and dressing them in expensive clothes?
I’ve recently begun to see dogs in strollers and in snugglys like the ones babies use. I’ve always known that people will buy things like coats and sweaters for their dogs when it’s cold but it seems like dog clothes are getting more and more expensive and less and less practical, like doggie tutus. Have you noticed this and what do you think?

….hack…just threw up in my mouth a little…
EDIT: I attended a Tricky Tray benefit for my shelter the other day and almost bid on a baby stroller- I have 1 but what the heck, could use another. Then, upon closer inspection, I realized it was a DOG stroller. Jeez, are we gonna start breeding dogs without legs so that these ludicrous things are actually practical???
Considering my uncle lost his only son in a fire Christmas eve and this new dog has been the first thing to get him to open up and have human emotions again… I think if it means putting her in stupid little outfits it’s just fine.
Yes, i have the stroller is alittle overboard but not if it is disabled. I think the clothes are fine though.
My sister. If she could afford it she would. In fact, she bought her then dog an expensive jeweled collar from Harrod’s when we were in London.
i think it’s a bit silly. i wouldn’t buy a dog anything but a leash/collar, tags, regular vet care, proper food & toys, and maybe one sweater….the sweater is not needed in warmer states or countries. a good crate is always good. and those doggie seat belts are great….i agree with you.
If its an old dog & still loves getting out & about then i havent got a problem with the stroller idea
But when its a healthy young dog i want to spew!
all dogs look really stupid in dog clothes, they should be banned, and strollers now? thats just not right! whatever else will they think of? they should be shot!(not the dogs, the ppl who make the clothes).
I think its insane. Dogs are dogs. Sorry.
They aren’t people no matter what we try to do to make them into little ‘people’.
These people think they have a child or baby doll…..they need a reality check, that it’s a DOG. They should be walked on a leash, not pushed in a stroller.
Coats & sweaters…unless it’s a small short haired breed, and it’s freezing outside, there’s really no point in the clothing. Let the poor dog be natural, and not dressed up for your entertainment (and their discomfort).
A bandanna is one thing…….a tutu is crossing a line, unless it’s Halloween.
I work at a pet store and we sell this stuff. I hope that the people who buy them are willing to spend the money to train their dogs that they spend on stuff like this. For crying out loud, they’re dogs who need exercise, not infants who can’t get around on their own.
Just my opinion.
Everyone has their own opinon on what’s tacky or not, what’s cute or not, etc. It’s their decision, if they want to dress their dog in sweaters and push them in strollers, so be it.
Yes, I think it’s pathetic.. if you want a kid adopt!
I think it’s an insult to the species as a whole.. the dog would rather be rolling around in the dirt and eating horse poop. Pretending that the dog would rather be dressed up and treated like a friggin invalid is sad to see. Little dogs like to get down and dirty too you know. I just don’t see a point, the dog doesn’t like it or care the only reason people do it is to get attention or to replace a child.. silly.
Yeah sure I have put clothes on dogs, for a joke! and took pics, but I didn’t buy the clothes.. lol and I didn’t make the dog wear something stupid! Also the dog can walk so why put it in a stroller? it’s not a baby, it’s a dog and dogs like to sniff and mark on walks.
The farthest I’ll go is a bandanna, and reflective vests I made for them for walking in the bush during hunting season!
i don’t care for it personally. it doesnt appeal to me cuz dogs are made to be adorable w/out clothes. if u want ur pup to be warm, keep its fur long. if u want it to not be overweight, stay away from the strollers.
At least thats what I think.
I think they should adopt a kid and let the poor dog be a dog. Dogs like to roll around and get smelly and run and bark. However – if the dog has problems walking due to age – then a stroller is fine. If the dog is a little thing without a lot of hair – then fine for a sweater. But – overall – dogs aren’t people – they’re WAAAAAAAAAAYYY better and fine without having to be made into someone’s baby doll. And think of how much good the money they spend on that stuff would do if they gave it to a shelter so homeless and abused dogs could have food and treats and maybe a blanket.
dogs should walk, thats what they like, i dont like the idea of ppl treating dogs that way, a dog likes to play get dirty and run!
I think it is completely rediculous! It is a dog it has 4 legs for walking and fur for warmth. The only dog that needs clothes is a hairless or thin coated breed that is going outdoors in cold weather. Growing up on a farm many of our dogs never had a collar and were never on a leash, so I may have a slightly different point of view on some things, but I still think this is WAY overboard. My sister thinks I am crazy because our dogs have harnesses and seatbelt straps for riding in the vehicle (keeps the dogs from running all over the vehicle and getting in the way of whoever is driving) and because we trim their nails on a regular basis.
I attibute it to some people not growing up with the knowledge of how animals really act! Heck, I bet 75% of the people on here don’t know what a "cow pie" looks like and many probably don’t know what it is! A lot of the people who do this are the ones who are trying to be high falutin’ like Paris Hilton and all of those rich little bimbos with too much money and too much free time!!!!
I don’t personally own a doggie stroller for my small dogs because I usually don’t go for more than a 1/2 hour walk and both of mine can handle that; but I do know a lady that has a stroller for her small dog because she likes to go for 3 mile walks and her little dog is not able to walk to whole way, so she has the stroller to put the dog in when she gets tired. I also know another couple that has a very old yorkie and they like to go for walks and like to get the yorkie out in the fresh air even though he can’t walk more than a block or 2 because of his age, so they have a stroller for him as well. I do put clothes on my 2 because of their short little legs they tend to get their bellies very dirty when we go out for walks (especially in the morning with all the dew on the ground) so if they have a shirt on, it keeps them cleaner longer. Now my labX doesn’t have the need for clothes, the only thing she has is a rain jacket to help keep her drier since it rains a lot up here.
I don’t see anything wrong with it in these instances, but I think the expensive fluffy frilly dresses and such are a bit much.
Man… There are a bunch of Holier than thous around here.
I have a stroller for my dogs that I use when I take them to the out door market. They enjoy being out but can’t get to hot. I have put sweater’s or tee’s on them before for holidays. So what… If I want to pay for it, its my dog, my money.
They are sad people and have no life.An animal is an animal and when you try to make it into something its not you take away its dignity and ownership of its life.Noone has the right to do that.Sorry that’s my opinon. If they pushed a doll around like that they would be in the looney bin,not much difference is there?
