I tried the ergo with my son and didn't like it i ended up taking it back because it was to difficult to put on and wear my son around the house its more for going out on walks. Also ergo can't really be used until four months (or until baby has good head control) you have to buy an insert

I would try Moby wrap I have heard excellent things about them

i can't exactly answer the question you asked, but i can tell you that i have a moby wrap and i LOVE it. i've used it on both my kids from the time they were born - my oldest is 20 months (27 pounds). you can put them on your back if you are talented enough! i used youtube a lot to see how to do things with it (tie it and such...)

anyway, i bought mine at carrymeaway.com - the owner, laurel, was very helpful at helping me select which carrier was best for me. i'm sure she can help you figure out which of those two (or another one if you are open to other options) would be best for you! i highly recommend asking her about it!!!

good luck!

Ergo = "soft structured" carrier

Babyhawk = "mei tai" carrier

I have an Ergo and a non-Babyhawk mei tai. The Ergo was far and away my preference; tying and untying a mei tai can be a bit of a pain but an Ergo's a little more click-and-go.

Theoretically you can nurse in them and the DVD that came with the Ergo had instructions for that, but I never did; easier to just sit, undo the top, nurse as per usual. With a second young child around I suppose I might've worked harder at nursing on the go, though...

Get the "infant insert" for the Ergo if you go with it. Quite easy to frog-leg a small baby into either carrier; you just switch to letting their legs dangle when they're a little older.

Ergos are not the most attractive-looking carriers but they're real workhorses. The accessories are a boon, too; I got a lot of use out of the 'sucking pads' and the separate zip pouch that can be velcro-ed on.

You can check out 'Patapum' and 'Beco' carriers, too -- they're similar.
