Strollers can be used as soon as your pediatrician gives the OK for your baby to go outside, but the stroller must have a full recline position to lay the baby flat. Another option is a travel system, where you can keep your baby in his/her infant car seat plugged into the matching stroller. Travel systems are most commonly sold together as a pair.
Carriers can be used immediately as well, as long as you get one that has an infant head support. McLaren makes one that’s great and you can take the infant support out when your baby can hold his/her head up. And, no, they don’t affect leg shape. Babies are naturally bow-legged for most of the first year.
After the baby reaches a certain weight or age. I’d personally be comfortable putting a 3-month old in a carrier very securely. I don’t think that they affect the leg shape.
You need to get the baby carrier/infant’s car seat ready even BEFORE the baby is born. The law requires you to put the baby in a car seat in the back seat when the baby is in the car-if you live in the US.
Never heard of the carriers affecting baby’s leg growth.
The stroller is for the your own convenience.(If you’re the mother) Usually people have at least one stroller. A friend of mine even kept one in her garage and one in her car trunk so she didn’t have to move it. When you buy a stroller, look at the wheels. Make sure they’re not too small and feels smooth to push and turn. Small wheels are nightmares as the baby grows heavier.
It’s always a good idea to compare the prices and consumer reviews on the web before buying a stroller.
Carriers should be used for babies. They should be inspected before use (before the baby is born). If the baby is small they make cousions that surround the baby in the carrier and support the head. As far as affecting leg shape, I find it highly unlikly unless the baby is being placed into the carrier improperly.
I swaddled my last one within the first month, I’m sure, and just stuck her in that carrier wrapped up like a burrito.
As long as you don’t carry them around ALL the time, there shouldn’t be a problem at all. They’re very flexible. I wouldn’t worry about the shape/growth.
You need to get the carrier and stroller combo. You will not need to put the baby in the stroller part till they out grow the carrier. If you are talking about a carrier that is strapped to you, find a good one. I would not do it till the babies neck is stronger. Find a sling that you can put a baby in.
You should be able to put your baby in a stroller with a reclining seat as soon as he/she leaves the hospital. While you may want to swaddle your baby when they’re in the stroller, the sooner they ride in the stroller, the more comfortable with it they will be. If you are talking about the strap on baby carriers, you should wait until the baby is about 1 month old so that they have enough neck strenght. The only reason it should hurt your babies legs in any way is if your baby has hip displacement problems. It can put to much stress where the hips meet the legs.
