I like Britax, we have a Decathlon, and if you can get one of those then that’s the best.
I’ve seen babies sleep upright and back, but if they are in a rear-facing one then it’s at a 45 degree angle and that works. So just make sure it’s rear facing and he should be comfortable.
As for what I’d recommend… I personally like the car seats that you don’t have to thread and rethread to get a good fit on their shoulders. Britax makes them, but not in the Marathon. The Boulevard has it. In ours, we have to rethread it and it’s a HUGE pain in the neck.
Another I like is the Graco-My Ride. It faces back to 40lbs and forward to 65lbs, has many of the same features that Britax has, but is cheaper. You DO have to rethread it, but unlike the Britax I was able to do it myself, which delighted me. It was easier for me to take out, thread, and install in the car again. With the Britax, I’ve tried a few times and basically have decided it’s now the husband’s job.
Britax Marathon ALL THE WAY!!!!
We own 2, and used them rear facing for our 2 year old til 18 months, now the 2 year old and the 3.5 year old are forward facing in them… our 7 year old was in 1 forward facing until nearly age 6, as she was so teeny, and it it SO much safer!
Most Graco, Cosco Evenflo ones have way lower weight limits so you are stuck buying more than one.. might as well spend more now and have it actually last through the booster years… instead of keeping spending more as you need bigger seats!
We have a safety 1st one. The weight limit goes up to 135 I think. It is from infant to booster. I like it. It reclines so it’s nice when she’s sleeping she isn’t all slumped over. They are so expensive so we opted for one that would last a long while. A lot of the weight limits are lower.
The best thing for you to do is go here http://www.car-seat.org/ (it’s a forum).
Ask your question and most of the replies will be from car seat techs. It’s the BEST place for advice, not on here.
There are MANY better options than Britax now…higher weight limits (especially rearfacing, which is recommended until at least 3 now).
Britax Marathons also failed tests done by Canada, the harness ripped out of the shell in crash simulations.
