Why is it that you could get a seat belt ticket in a car but not on a motorcycle?

I know that motorcycles don’t come with seat belts but come on don’t you think that a 6 seat belt ticket is a little outrages? I think the state is trying to make money back for lost unemployment compensation.

Helmets are the motorcyclists equivalent to the seat belt law. I don’t know that I agree with your assertion that it’s a funding source but I do agree that $126 is outrages. Their argument, which does have merit, is that injuries are more severe without their use and others have to pay for it either through taxes or increased insurance premiums. Police will also write up a seal belt violation instead of speeding or other moving violation because the seal belt ticket is cheaper. In essence, they are really giving the driver a break; it only seems like they are money grubbing.
You answered your own question. Who would want to be strapped to a motorcycle when it wipes out?
As far as the seat belt ticket goes, yes that is a bit steep but it’s not a hard ticket to avoid.
$55 if paid by mail, there is court fee’s which are outrages! buckle up, next time buckle up but if you don’t and end up with another one then pay it by mail and avoid court fee, also its a none moving violation so no points taken from your license.
In the case of a motorcycle, it is believed that the rider’s safety is maximized by not strapping the rider to the motorcycle.
In a car accident, the safest place to be is in the car; yet in a motorcycle accident, the worst place to be is on the motorcycle…
If you obey the law as written, then you have nothing to worry about in either form of transportation.
Complaining gets you nowhere.
Of course I think it’s outrageous.
That’s why I don’t travel far often.
I have no seatbelt law or helmet law to even think about that way.
Unemployment compensation is not totally funded by the state.
Every employer pays into the fund.
